  1. My opinion is to go for the RB-25 set. I have heard both and think that the RB-25s sound better. Don't get me wrong, the Cinema 10 sounds good. CD
  2. I am going to tell you my honest opinion about 3 same speakers up front as that is what I have done. I have heard the RC-7 with RF-7s for awhile now and saw someone went with 3 RF-7s up front(mOOn if you must know). I thought, whoa, that looks cool. So I got 3 RF-7s and belive it sounds better then useing the RC-7 but only in the bass and size. I belive the 3 towers blend in better and sounds are more seemsly going from side to side. I think your thoughts are normal. I belive the only reason for smaller horazontal centers is mainly because of a TV and size. I have thought many times of getting RF-7s in the back, but keeping comeing back to the thought, I normally listen to music, 5 RF-7s would be a waste of money, but would sound really awsome. Also room size is a factor, but that doesn't bother me to much. Anyway, if you can do it without much trouble, go 3 towers. Just my suggestion of course. CD
  3. About the whole RCX thing, I belive he said RC-xx meaning any RC speaker(RC-25, RC-35, RC-7). The xx is the veriable for the number. Anyway, to help answer the main question, I would suggest an RC-25 as well.
  4. Dang it. Ok heres that story. My cousin fyremarble has been pretty busy so I wanted to update her profile for her and forgot to logout. So that fyremarble info up top is actually me. Sorry for the confusion and I think my cousin will forgive me. CD
  5. I suppose I could fill in some of fyremarble info for the forum. Please note I didn't have to much money to play around when I bought her system, but I did what I could. Besides what was said, she also has a Playstation 2 which she uses as a source. I even bought monster cable optical cable and speaker wireing as well. Nothing to fancy, but I don't see much of a reason to spend to much in this area. I also bought her a portbable CD player and gave her an adaptor to help her plug in her cdplayer to the Onkyo. I belive her listing levels are around 65-75 dB and maybe 85 when she wants it louder. Her room size I don't remember but I am guessing 15 by 10 feet. Later on I plan on buying her a sub. She doesn't want anything big but she says the RW-10 is ok for size but I want to push up to a RW-12 and if she can wait long enough, possibly an RSW-10. Please note the sub upgrade won't be for a long time. Possibly around Dec 2005 to about Jan 2006 for the RW-stuff and Mid next year for the RSW-10 depending on her feelings. She said no to SVS because she doesn't like the look of the cyclinders or the size of the box. But I did just notice the SVS PB10-ISD is just little bit bigger then the RW-12. Of course over time I will talk to her about it. CD
  6. I don't do this often but back when I had my RF-3II mains, I think I hit 121 dB but didn't do it for much longer then 5 seconds. I bought a friend of mine a system which I am just brakeing in for them, got to 110 but not for long. I did listen to 100 dB for awhile, but somehow I feel my ears don't like it. With RB-35s 85 dB sounds about right. Althought the RF-7s have more presents, thats about where I like it with them to. It seems at 85 dB is when it completly opens up, but not entirely to loud on a system that doesn't stress with it. But in most cases I am around the 70s. I just find it amazing at what Klipsch speakers can do. I can't imagine what seperates would do. CD
  7. I just bought my cousin who is also interested in audio a very decent system. Right now she is useing a Logitech 5.1 computer speaker system. I can't belive I left her with that system even when I knew it sucked. So I got her an Onkyo TX-SR-502( and a pair of RB-35s in black. I have it hooked up in the basment and it sounds better then thought it would. Also the reason I say more christmas shopping done is because I also got my parents the Onkyo TX-SR-602. Gezz 2 receivers in one month and nither belong to me. But this isn't something I am going to do again thou. I wanted to get my family some up to date nice stuff. I think my cousin will like the new setup but I dunno about my parents. So what do you think? Good or bad idea? I guess 715 bucks for both recivers wasn't to bad. Marry Christmas everyone. CD
  8. Please note that my listening time between the two are pretty far apart, but my guess is, yes and no. I think the Cinema 10 would sound more detialed, but would sound smaller and not as loud. The RW-10 will sound very good but not very loud. Not sure you can get the same priceing, but I would suggest seeing if you can get the RB-15s or RB-25s instead unless size and wall mounting is a must. I hope this helps at least a little bit. Good luck. CD
  9. Well, I did get my parents the Onkyo 602 for Christmas. I am letting them use my RF-3II set so sometime after christmas I should be able to tell you if your still interested. CD
  10. Well, Christmas is comeing and even thou my parents say I don't have to buy them anything, I bought something I know they need audio wise. My parents have an old Sony. Ever heard of Dolby Prologic? Yeah, thats the best surround format it handles. Also, I waas playing music with it and every time changed the volume, it would distort. Not to metion its a complete wimp. It says 75 watts by 3 for the front and 15 in the back, but I know it doesn't have anything close to that. I have my RF-3II system connected to it now and you have to turn the volume about half way up just to get decent output. So how did I solve all these problems? I bought them an Onkyo TX-SR-602 in black. I know its not the greatest, but it blows what they have now out of the water and it was I wanted to spend. I like it because its up to date on surround formats exept THX which basicly Dolby Digital, has an auto set mirophone, a universal remote and 7 channels with alot more power the the current unit my parents own and I honestly think it looks nice. I just hope this was a good idea. I hope my parents like it. Maybe my dad won't feel joelous of me anymore. Just got exited and wanted to share it with the forum. O and this unit basicly makes mine look way outdated and is probly better. CD
  11. I am a soil relocation engineer. I am also a multi lawnmower operatoring engineer as well. Ok ok, I work at a golf course. I move and lay grass(sod) and dirt. I have done a little bit of landscaping. But during the summer my main jobs are taking care of sand bunkers which includes raking the sand, edgeing and weeding around them. I also cut surrounds which is the outside hills of the greens and tees. I also cut the tees, collers, approches and around tress and mulch leaves in the fall. About a month ago I did some aerating and seeding to all aproches and tees. I have done some cutting to greens. As much as I hate this, weed eating. I have done some work to the irrgation system. Thats about it. CD
  12. Well, I looked at the manual online just simply looking at the back of your unit. I would suggest using the SW pre-out going to your RSW-12. Congrats on your sub purchase. Its an awsome sub. CD
  13. Thank you for the reply as always. My only problem with the EQ is I have 2 ways to set it up. Tape to Monitor or DVD player to EQ to Reciver. I have thought of a single channel EQ for my sub as well because my room is just terrible for my setup. I normally listen to music anyway, so I don't feel to left out eqing just my mains and sub. I thought of buying an AudioSource EQ-200 and maybe the ART 351 for the sub. I realize the audiosource could do the bass part to, but I do useally set my mains to small when useing my sub. I also own the digital version of the RadioShack SPL meter and 2 set up disk. Stryke and Digital Video Essentials. This may sound strange, but I have a few extra pillows that I use for room accoustics but just for my sub. CD
  14. Gosh at 1500 for a sub you have a lot of options. If your trying to stay Klipsch, you may want to look at the RSW-12 as it is much better then the RW-12. If you don't mind the extra size, the RSW-15 is a great sub if you can find it at 1500 or less. For reference (no pun intended) I got mine for 1400. Another sub company (notice I metion Klipsch first as I love the RSW stuff) if I may say it, SVS makes great movie subs for the money as svsubwoofers.com. The PB-12/2Plus would be great and if you don't mind spending more, the PB-12/2Ultra. Just to let you know, all these subs I metioned are better then the RW-12 but cost more. But in defense of the RW-12, it is still a good sub but I think for your room size you need something with a bit more ooph. If Ears decides to chim in, he make be able to suggest something better. CD
  15. wow, someone replyed. Thank you for answering as it does help. Well, I think if I redid my test I would of placed in the same basic area. Well if its true that you have to change your subs volume, how would you know what to set it to? I did it by ear, but even with all the test stuff before the music might actually not help. Again thank you for replying. CD
  16. I had trouble with my receiver shutting off when turned it up and chacked my wires and they were fine. So I opend up my reciver seeing what I could do. First thing I did was take out my AM/FM tuner sence I never use it. Then I disconnected my video section of the pre-amp sense I connect everything directly to the TV. I wouldn't of done these things if I couldn't put it back the way it was. The receiver is still working and if you can belive it, sounds better. Some things it had trouble with in music came out easyer. I haven't had as much trouble with it shutting off lately either. I honestly don't feel there is a change in my life expect the music sounds a bit better. My only concern is the power supply may end out over powering some circuts when pushed. I don't think the amp or pre-amp will suffer but maybe something else. Was this a bad idea? Happy holidays everyone. CD
  17. I have read and talked to people about the sub placement method but wasn't sure if the way I did it would be any worse or better. I was moving my stuff around anyway so I figured it would be worth the extra work. I placed my RSW-15 on my bed with the active woofer facing the direction I would sit. I used my Stryke test CD to play 30-100 hz test tones while walking around listening to sub and seeing were it should be placed. I then placed something were it sounded best and put the active woofer were I placed the object facing in the same direction it started. It sounds ok, but I haven't tested its frequency range because I have either been busy or tired. My other question is, would an EQ be a good idea? I was also wondering to, is it normal to have the change the subs volume when you change a CD/DVD or any other media? I notced a big drop in bass when I changed a CD and turned up the bass till it sounded right. Happy Holidays everyone. CD
  18. I haven't heard the PSB but I have heard the RW-10. The RW-10 is basicly a lower level RSW. The dBs on the RSW are greater and more defined, but the RW woofers are not boomy to my ears. They sound tighter and and alot better then the KSW woofers. I heard the RW-12 with RF-7s. Maxed out and in the right place could keep with them to a point. I figure the RW-10 may keep with the RF-35s. The RW-8 can be used with the RF-15 or RB-25s. Any higher and I would suggest a higher sub. CD
  19. Wow, you would think Klipsch would do better picking who sells there stuff. Belive it or not thou, where I shop I have always had good service. I accidently broke an RF-3II woofer and they replaced it for free. I also broke a crossover in an RS-3II accident and to make a long story short, they fixed that for free. These types of accidents are not useally covered. Each fix took about a week, but thats ok. On top of that to, I get grat deals there. Altought for the picky people, the service might be slow in the store because there busy. 4 or 5 people in the store and 10 custumers, I can't blame them for being busy. But the guy I talk to useally comes to me after he isn't busy anymore even if I don't say anything. Although if its anything, they record everything. From what you bought, to how much you spent and on what day. Even with layaways they will have a recording for each payment and there usally isn't a due date. Altought they aren't the smartest audio people such as people here, they know alot about they sell compared to other stores. Anyway, hope your RSW-15 comes back good. I like mine so I can understand how you would miss yours. CD
  20. You know, I think there is such a thing as "fast bass". But I think a better way to say it would be controlled bass. Some amps can control a speaker better then others can. From what I read, damping factor is the amps abilty to keep the speaker from moving more then it should. The higher the number the better. Even if that is wrong. I know slew rate can be used here to. The ability to change frequencys quicker. If both are right, then an amp that is good with both powering a sub would make it quicker there for makeing "fast bass" or controlled bass. Well, this is what I think anyway. CD
  21. Just to continue where sivadselim left off. Setting your phase should be easy. Try one setting and listen, switch it and listen again. Choose the setting that is the loudest. I do have RF-7s and an RSW-15 myself and have leaving the crossover off seems to sound better to me. Good luck. CD
  22. Well, I don't live in New Jersey, but I do live in Delaware. Not really that far off. cd
  23. Not to take over this thread, but what reciver/intergrated amp or perhaps amp would you suggest with RB-35s to give them good bass? CD
  24. Thank you for your answers. This friend of mine actually likes this audio hobby. She loves my RF-7s but think they are to big. I should of said this in my first post but for refernce(no pun intended)sake the RB-35s were powered by a Pioneer Elite reciver and an Onkyo 6 DVD player. I can useally get at least 10% off of Pioneer Elite, Denon, Onkyo, and Kenwood. The only place I can get Yamaha is at Best Buy. The Harman Kardon stuff off the internet or a long drive to CuircutCity. Creek I think from Audio Advisor. So far trying to look at your suggestions. I work 7 days a week so I am pretty busy and I haven't had much time to look latly. CD
  25. I am planing out a system idea for a friend who only listens in 2 channel. Useally its just music. Not to offend, but I only want an SS pre-amp and amp. I bet tubes sound good, but I feel it may either be to expensive or not enought power. The system I am thinking of putting together is Klipsch RB-35s which my friend has heard and likes them alot. Onkyo M282 amp Parasound PHP-850 pre-amp. Trying to come up with a good 2 channel system without spending alot. With what I have come up with, the system may come out to be about $950. I don't want to go over 1000 USD. She doesn't listen to the radio, so my other idea was a nice 2 channal intergrated amp. The RB-35s are to stay in the plan but other ideas about the electronics are welcome. And just for pricing sake so you know whats left over, I can get the RB-35s for 450 leaving about 550 including shipping. Thank you in advance. CD
