  1. I wouldn’t do it . These speakers are -4 @40hz and -10 db @32hz that’s not much better than the Lascala’s response. Plus the Lascala's produce very clean, high quality , high fidelity bass, it’s just that they fade a little early .You would almost certainly end up significantly degrading your Lascala’s by putting these into your system . Looks like they would high pass your speakers at 150hz that’s no good either , I wouldn’t even think of using them , not a good sub for home use .IMHO🤓
  2. Elon’s pretty smart, but he could eventually have us all listening to a virtual sound device or something, which might eliminate loudspeakers altogether😧.To risky. Besides ,so far, Klipsch has let the bonehead guy do his thing ,and thats been working pretty good.🤓
  3. Nope , just a guy with a sense of humor 🤓
  4. I’m sure their very fine caps , just a silly joke 🤓
  5. Russian surplus military caps , your kidding right? That’s a good way to blow up your speakers , maybe even your house.
  6. Lascala’s look sweet ,they look like a serious no nonsense piece of equipment, and that’s just what they are. Nice looking room🤓
  7. Yep ,great observation ,I can relate to this.🤓
  8. At one time I had a 28’ x 24’ room with a set of Khorns along the 28 ‘ wall , the sound was incredible. But if you don’t have an optimal room they will suffer in their presentation to some degree. In smaller less optimal rooms I believe that the Lascala has certain advantages ,for example the height of the squawker is better placed for closer listening ,Lascala allows for easy toe in adjustment and easy width adjustment . Overall the Lascala offers much more flexibility , which makes it more desirable in many cases. But is it better , to me it depends.🤓
  9. Right ,that’s why I don’t do power point presentations when I listen to music.🤓
  10. Ok so you don’t care about home theater, but the OP was interested in using his new Lascala’s for double duty, music and home theater , lots of people have very nice sound systems that are extremely capable of double duty , including my own . I don’t view my setup as having many compromises , although every setup has them. In my world ,being a stereophile has evolved into music and theater , and I want to be able use my equipment to do both.
  11. Pro logic II music or Neo 6 can sound absolutely incredible with some stereo music , particularly with a nice heritage setup, I rarely play my Khorns by themselves anymore,( but I can if I want to )I prefer the huge sound stage that my multi channel theater system offers . Theres nothing wrong with a system that can do it all .
  12. Did you notice the part where I said that your opinion is not any less valid than mine? You guys keep banging your heads
  13. Sure , to each his own , Some people swear that cables make a difference too , the more expensive the better the sound.
  14. Well,I said in my honest opinion ,and I said a decent quantity avr, I stand by my opinion. It is very difficult for most people , to discern differences in amp sound quality , and if they can we are talking about very subtle differences. It’s hard to find listeners who can consistently pick out the “better”sounding amplifier in a A/ B blind comparison .This goes along with my own experience through the years, not saying that your opinion is any less valid than mine , but I like to put my money on the really important stuff like making sure that a guy with a left and right Lascala puts in a Lascala center, cause no amplifier will fix that mistake.
  15. The speakers are 99% of the equation ,almost any competent amplifier powering your Lascala’s will essentially sound the same as any other ,so any decent AV receiver will work just fine with your new speakers ,IMHO. Enjoy your awesome new speakers , another Lascala or at least another big heritage speaker would work for center , another Lascala being by far your best choice .Be careful about crossing over those high output speakers with an undersized subwoofer ,because it won’t keep up , and you’ll be very weak below crossover point .(very bad).To avoid this problem run your speakers full range and augment the Lascala’s where they naturally fall off .Congrats on your very fine new speakers and welcome to the forum🤓
  16. Hey Derekc503 , Welcome to the forum, your wife’s uncle has good taste in loudspeakers .🤓
  17. Glad to hear that laying them on there side works for you, I ran a Heresy center on its side with good success a few years back . I think there is a risk of doing such things though, some purist out there might tell you how wrong you are and why it violates all known audio principles , personally though, I trust your experienced ears 🤓
  18. Anomalies such as these tend to be more prevalent the closer your test mike is to the speaker , especially as you move up or down off axis, I don’t believe that he ever mentioned how close he was when he took his measurements , but they were probably made at a much closer distance than what most people would be listening to them at . I doubt that any of these discrepancy’s will be heard as a defect in actual use . This is in response to the above video 🤓
  19. I’ve got a set of the RP 280f in a smaller room , probably similar sound as yours . I thought that they had a little too much on the top end for my taste and cut the treble tone control, as also mentioned by RandyH , to my ears it was very effective ,and am very happy with them overall.🤓
  20. That’s interesting ,sounds like your very knowledgeable on this unit, aside from the chance that the input cables are bad , what components in the speakers would you be suspicious of ?🤓
  21. Yea , for now just use some wire .🤓
  22. I understand , but is that circuitry working correctly? A simple swap would verify.I’ve had lots of amps go bad over the years , I’ve also got an avr that occasionally needs rebooting. Also at low volume there should be no clipped signal and therefore no excessive distortion , further pointing to an electronic failure 🤓
  23. Sounds like an amplifier problem to me , you say it also shuts down on your Forte’s ,but at a different volume level . Check with a different amp so that you can rule out the amp as the problem . I’ve never had an amp shut down like you describe , shouldn’t be that sensitive. Good luck 🤓
  24. Yes , they really are a great speaker ,I’ve got the Heresy II ,big fabulous sound in a practical size , maybe my favorite Klipsch of all. I prefer mine angled up .🤓
