  1. Nice setup especially the table foundation. One of these days, teach me how to setup a new custom turntable so I can record optimally. I set the cassette deck perfectly aligned and biased 99% using different Nakamichi decks and tapes. But I want to learn that technique on the turntable using dial indicators. Good to hear from you! By the way, that album is a masterpiece. I think I like the original album better than the remaster. After transferring the brand new album to reel, I record it to the Nakamichi 680zx on half speed using chrome and a 1982 TDK SA. I get the best of both worlds. Super warm on the TDK and crystal clear on the Chrome. Both sounds creamy!
  2. Memories of KUTE "The Quiet Storm" Jazz 1986. Was a great radio station. Part I Part II
  3. Thanks... I need the panel so if you know anyone selling. I bought it like this from the original owner. He lost it. This machine sounds great. Very analog sound combining with a BX-300 sound. Its like the early and the mid nakamichi sound.
  4. Picked this up a few days ago... Playbacks: Nakamichi LX-3 - Right on Target Nakamichi LX-3 - Megatron Man

    Amateur Radio

I was in the radio for a quite a while in the late 70's through the late 80's. I didnt go to ham radio. I still have my old 148, lollipop and the 5/8 wave antenna that I got from radio shack back in 1979. Its like the original super penetrator.
  6. Good point on the output signal. The quality tone control is really important to certain people like for example yourself. I can really use it too for I record alot and not every recording is the same. Throughout the years I see myself dialing more on the treble and rarely on the bass. That difference of 1/2 to 1 notch on trimming can make the playback sound from good to holy grail. This is probably one of the reason why I manage to own some of my stereo equipment for a very long time. I try to make the most out of the stereo before thinking about upgrading. BTW: I was looking at a dynaco pas 3. I never had a thorough experience with it besides owning and listening to it a for a very short time. For some reason it may sound tube'y but kind of old school monoural to my listening. Its just not my cup of tea. That has a tone control.
  7. going back a bit... I got my 2nd system dialed correctly (lets say the way how I want it). But since my preamp is on its last leg, I'm in a search for a new one. Specifically a tube preamp with tone control. I was looking at the Vincent sa-32 tube preamp. I believe this one has a submarine tube. Any takes in this preamp? Hybrid Stereo Preamplifier The further development of our hybrid preamplifier SA-31. Compared to the predecessor the SA-32 has additionally symmetrical input- and output connections. Also we improved the whole circuit again. Now there are two more 6N16 tubes inside, located directly in front of the output. Because of this, the sound becomes more naturalness and more musicality. For a comfort operation we added a high-class remote control in an aluminium case. 8. There were lots of excellent sony products during those times. Sony trinitron that I recently retired, the mighty sony 3 head cassette deck that I acquired going 40 years now from 1980's that is perfectly biased to my nakamichi decks, the early sony cassette tapes I recorded that sounds like gold till today. There were lots of good things about them.
  9. Yes. Just like what you said. The sony is not designed for playback.
  10. Its actually a receiver that I bypass the power and preamp. Sony STR-V55 AM-FM Stereo Receiver. The Fluxion custom build was suppose to be a pair of monos and 1 tube preamp. In this setup, I need to have a tone control for this is my analog recording set up. The sony is almost dead. I need to warm it up for a good 25 minutes before I use it. Not really a unit that I wanna rebuilt. But the one thing I can say about this old receiver, I have made thousands of excellent recordings since the 80's. Surprisingly turned out to be an excellent music library. It has an excellent mm/mc phono circuit. Or atleast it use to.
  11. Hi, Thanks for the follow-up and input and will keep that in mind. My main preamp is not in good shape since its original 1980 sony. So I'm in a hunt for replacement. I can wait since this is not may main setup.
  12. I need to get a tube preamp.. Then all set. 😇
  13. Would love to hear if anyone can post a video of a cornwall in action.
  14. Wow this is a great topic and one of the future candidates on my speaker purchasing radar.
  15. very nice... How many watts? Do you also have a 6c33c-b amp?
  16. I went to the hardware store trying to get the restore a finish I didnt know what color so I went back home... So its "golden oak". 😹👻 Thanks, CCG
  17. Thank you for the kind posting. If you dont mind I added you in follow becase me and @MicroMara have been working on interesting speaker cabinet restoration and modifications since when I started December 2022. We both came up with a small non-popular klipsch speaker that got modified and it it really rocks. I'm almost done with the project besides the finish restoration and I will add a bottom box (not a plinth) but a sandbox semi-attached (screwed) that in theory will give ab excellent bass dynamics. I am also in a hunt for another 8 inch tower speaker that is an excellent project for this sandbox. The goal is, getting your speaker set to its optimum performance. I have another tower speaker with a 6 inch single woofer that can easily drive a 550 sqft room. Without the proper sandbox, I would have not filled up that room. Thank you anyway. CCG PS. This other speaker I'm currently looking for just came with ash black. I really like the butterscotch finish so I may need some advise on how to transform that color. But I'll wait first when I get that speaker. Thanks.
  18. Oh this is so cool and thank you for sharing. So do you think I'd be able to clean this first with the magic eraser (is that a mr. clean)? then after that I will apply the two. I have the lemon beeswax. I'll just get the restore. . Thank you again
  19. Very nice. That's what i need to do on mine. Was wondering what pain and color did you use? Thanks, CCG
  20. Hi and thank you for the response. Could you attach the picture of your amp again. Thank you. Joe
