  1. I tried spotify, but now use MOG exclusively. For the most part MOG streams at 320 kbps. A much higher rate than most Spotify songs.I think you can get 320 kbps on Spotify, but you have to pay teh Premium price $10 a month and enable it on a settings menu.
  2. If it's skipping, you probably don't have a fast enough internet connection. Because MOG streams at such a high quality bitrate, a fast connection is mandatory.
  3. Before I would start 'operating' on the amplifier, I would make sure I don't have a ground loop somewhere. If you completely changed your room (Not sure what you did), you may have introduced a ground loop somewhere. BTW - 'Clean power going in' does not remove ground loops at all. The usual procedure. Unplug and disconnect everything until you hear the offending componet. See if a cheater plug on the amp solves the problem. In my new room I finally had to add a GFCI on the amp circuits to safely add a permanent cheater plug on the amplifers.
  4. If you think 4,000 CDs are impressive, how about MOGs 1 MIllion plus? As far as thrift goes, I am much more thrifty than yourself. I have a pay as you go cell phone that I pay $10 a year for. I don't have a landline I use Voice over Internet with an Ooma Machine. Free long distance and I only pay taxes on the Ooma. About $5 a month. So my total Phone outlay is $6 month. I don't have a Cable Bill at all. I use an Attic Antenna and get about 15 Over the air Channels and my Picture Quality is better than Cable. The MOG service will Literally Save me about $200-$400 per year on New Music. I am not a complete cheap ***, as I drive a Lexus. I did retire at age 50 however.
  5. I use it with my Squeezebox Touch feeding my Khorns with a SET amp. I have a 4,000 CD library that I never visit any more. MOG has over 1 Million Albums. For $60 a year, I get all the music I could ever want. This is a heck of a deal to me.I can take my Squeezebox with me when I leave for the winter and still have access to their music as long as I have an internet conneciton.
  6. My MOG is only $5 a month. Are you using it on a mobile device?... It's free on a home computer. So, for $60 a year, I get unlimited music. Before this I was spending about $300 a year for music.
  7. I have tried other tweeters with my Khorns. You need to know the impedance of the new tweeters to calculate any crossover changes there would be. The biggest improvement to the Khorn would be in the Midrange however. I have tried a few different tweeters with my Khorns and really could not hear too much of a difference. The midrange swap I did was simply jaw dropping. I am running the Altec 1005B horns with 288-16K Drivers. Dean G helped me with the crossover changes. I have had then for about 7 years now.
  8. Really? http://support.mog.com/kb/general-information/what-audio-quality-bitrate-does-mog-support Hey, listen I only posted this for folks interested to try this. I have not spent a great deal of time analyzing how it would perform with an an Android phone. I use Modified Horns, SET Tube Amps and a Squeezebox touch and it works really well for this setup. If you want to know how it will work with your kindle, I have no idea.
  9. I believe this is for Android and Kindle, not iPod... http://www.amazon.com/MOG-Music/dp/B004L7KGFC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_topI was looking for independent opinions of the service in general. No particular reason I chose Amazon. But I'd have to question your assessment of the value of the opinions. I think it's pretty easy to cut the wheat from the chaff... Chris BTW - Android and Kindle are also 64 kbps and I would not consider them a threat to the audiophile commmunity. I am also an independent opinion of the service in general. That is what this forum is all about. I have no interest or personal stake in the company. My advice would be to try it out with their 14 day free trial and make up your own mind. Then you can report back here with your opinion as an audiophile. I'll be waiting for your review.
  10. I read the reviews on Amazon and sprinkled within the reviews of Audiophiles were ipod users and such. Not sure why you posted this link, as Amazon would not be a place I would go to for Audiophile Advice. I was commenting on MOG running on a Squeezebox Touch at 320 Kbps not an Ipod at 64 kbps. I may have missed your intent, correct me if I'm wrong.
  11. I used to use Pandora all the time......Even the radio feature of MOG is better than Pandora. Listening to music with MOG is just like listening to your own library, You can see the songs queued in your playlist in Squeezebox LMS. I may never have to buy music again !
  12. I started playing around with MOG, I am using it as a Pluggin App for the Squeezebox Touch. It has similarities as Pandora but with much better Audio Quality and you control the Music Entirely. Pandora streams a 128 Kbps, but MOG streams at 320kbps. The difference was stunning. It was like listening to a FLAC file vs. Pandora. With over 1 Million Albums avaialable, almost everything I listen to, is on the MOG Library. I don't think I'll ever need to play anything from my Library anymore. Also the amount of re-mastered albums is amazing! I may never need to buy any new music either. All this for $5 a month for my squeezebox touch. From what I understand the CEO is a serious audiophile that has a lot of vinyl, and is probably the driving force in a streaming service that has high quality audio.
  13. Yup, I read your post 3 times and could not figure out what happened to the Khorns.
  14. At least some of us knew what you were talking about. And, yes, that is some of the most expensive stuff that will separate you from your money.
  15. Pat, You definitely should order a pair....I'd like to hear them![]
  16. Great News and thanks for the Update!........[Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y]
  17. The USB drive is for a kid in a Dorm Room......As you get more music on it, it becomes very, very slow. Hard Disk is the way to go as you found out.
  18. The best thing about the Squeezebox is the Internet Radio and Portability. I find myself listening to Pandora a lot. Also, when I travel for extended periods of time in the winter. I can take the Squeezebox and plug it into my rental house's stereo. I can also bring along a small Passport Drive, with over 3500 of my CDs on it. Also it is great for listening to my favorite radio stations when traveling.
  19. " I know there are still plenty of old carmudgeons that think the only good audio is through tubes, on vinyl and through full-sized horns" This Old Crumudgen thinks the only good audio is through tubes, through full-sized horns and a Squeezebox Touch.
  20. OUCH !!..............These speakers are 87db........Need lots of Power!....Won't work with a low power tube amp........Someone that currently has horns is not going to want to switch to low efficiency speakers.
  21. I looked at their website and they do not list any specs on this speaker at all. I was looking for efficiency and size.
  22. Actually Quite easy....I just have it hooked up in to the Amps outputs to the speakers. There are only 3 wires on the Rel. 2 for the positives and 1 for the negative.
  23. Yes, it works fine....I am not a bass freak and the Khorns provide plenty of bass. Most of the music I listen to is small Jazz Trios and Vocals. I tend to turn the sub on for movies.....I could live without it quite easily.
