  1. I went to the last two ProgPower's and they were awesome. I have every intention of going to this years show. That is one kick-*** lineup Glenn put together for this year. I better be camping out at the TicketBastard website the moment those tickets go on sale. I have a feeling they will be going extremely quickly (I've heard some speculation that it may very well sell out within 36 hours!) Last year I bought tickets for me and a friend because my buddy was on his way to see Dream Theater the day the tickets went on sale. I was amazed no only at the quality of the music but at how well things seemed to be run and the way they were able to minimize the downtime between bands. I found myself wishing for more time to spend with the vendors checking out the CD selection. I saw Sonata Arctica at the Masquerade in ATL when they came through last year and I was so pleased when I saw they were playing at this years progpower. It'll be cool to see Freak Kitchen again as well although I could do with a little less of Mattias' crass humour between songs.
  2. I'm pretty excited about this years lineup for the prog power USA show.
  3. We're planning on living down here for now, neither of us really want to live in Montreal. Nova Scotia however...

  5. Thanks guys, I'm not worried about my speakers or anything at all. One night at her parents we had a long romantic talk about CD sampling rates and high frequency distortion and foldover frequencies and the beauty of listening to jazz on vinyl. The only thing I've bought for my stereo since 2003 has been a pair of Bob's tweeters for my Heresy's so it's not like I'm really into it as a hobby, I just like listening to good music and so does she. We went down to Marvel's house last night for dinner and listened to his Merlin>Moondog>LS system. She thought the Giant speakers were pretty cool. If I were worried about not being able to put my hobbies first in our relationship then I would be a pretty selfish person and not ready to marry. Having kids and raising a family is going to be a pretty time consuming venture but it's what we both want.
  6. I went to Canada over Christmas break to meet her family and we decided to get married this summer. We haven't set a specific date just yet bet we are working on it. []
  7. A 1983 Volvo 245 DL 2.3L inline four with 10.3:1 CR and a .52/.48 Garrett T3 running 15psi through a ford powerstroke intercooler and out a 3" Sam Steffanson exhaust. Other goodies included an HKS SSQV blow off valve, KG trimming KG2T cam, Clutchnet 4 puck racing clutch. Keeping it all from exploding due to the stupid CR was a Megasquirt standalone EFI system controlling fuel and spark with an Innovate LC-1 wideband o2 sensor for refference. Running 10psi it dyno'd 165rwhp and 210rwtq and got over 25mpg around town with a heavy right foot. At 15psi it was rediculous. And then somebody ran me off the road at 70 mph one night.
  8. #8's, no wonder his tone sucks. Every video I've seen of his sounds really thin. I've got Regular slinky's on it right now. I'd be really tempted to use some beefy slinky's like I've got on my Tele but I would probably have to add another spring on the floating bridge as the current springs are almost tightened all the way. I think I've got some DR pure blues on the other RG which are nearly the same size as the regular slinky's but have a different tone to them.
  9. Alot of people keep telling me that about it playing out of tune. I normally don't grip that hard while playing so I don't think it's going to be too much of a problem. Should be easier to play in tune then my fretless bass anyways [] Ibeenhad, hahahaha. It wasn't really that nice to begin with, just kind of a beater/project guitar that I bought to try out some pickups in.
  10. It's great to hear you are doing ok. I'm sitting here listening to my HDBRbuilder built Heresy's right now. Peace, Josh
  11. About two weeks ago I came across some pics on a website of the ESP Takayoshi Ohmura signature guitar with it's scalloped fretboard and the idea of having a scalloped fretboard so your fingers wouldn't even touch it was very intriguing. Since I had an Ibanez sitting around that I had gotten pretty cheaply off of ebay and I wasn't even playing it I decided to give it a try. While the guitar was apart I decided to get some new pickups as well. 8 hours of quality time with a 1/4" file and the guitar ended up with something like this. From the treble side at the first fret. farther up the neck on the treble side. upper frets treble side upper frets on the bass side. My two RG's, the 320FM with the recently scalloped neck on the right and the Prestige series 121NTF on the left. Both with Dimarzio humbuckers, the 320 has a PAF Pro/neck and an Air Zone/bridge, the 121NTF has an Air Norton/neck and a Steve's Special/bridge. So far my playing impressions are that it is different. Not really better, not any worse then it was before. Legato stuff feels different. It's going to take some getting used to but I think it is going to be fine. Just thought I'd share. Peace, Josh
  12. There are 4,061 people in the U.S. named Joshua Brown.
  13. Well, It's another guitar amp. Last weekend I picked up a Mesa/Boogie MkIII SimulClass. It sounded pretty good but I thought it had a sort of familiar flat boring kind of a tone. I looked in the back and sure enough, the 12AX7's were Mesa branded made in russia pieces of crap. I swapped in some old RCA's I had laying around and man alive did the sound improve. I've been running the MkIII in 15w class A mode and it's way louder then needed in my apt. Class AB is just downright silly. Peace, Josh
  14. as am I. It.s so awesome to be alive.
  15. I actually had full coverage on the car so I got a check from the insurance company today that I'm pretty happy with. I also got to go by the wreckers and pull out the cam I had custom ordered from sweden and the turbocharger/manfold which are going on my other car: a 1984 242 turbo, this stuff along with what I yanked the other night adds up to well over a grand in parts that i get back out of the car to put on the 2 door. The speedo only went to 120 and seemed to not be damaged in any way when I messed with it this afternoon at the wreckers, I'm not really worried about paying the ticket. As has already been said I'm just glad to be alive and well. I'm resizing a bunch of pics right now and I'll have them up on my server later tonight. Peace, Josh
  16. heheh, 12. Yeah, so far I've been playing it at around 4 and it's been plenty loud in my room. I'm gonna wait to crank it until after I've got some more hours on the power tubes. I went ahead and swapped out the fender re-branded Sovtek 12AX7's for some of the old RCA's I've got. The sound is a bit sweeter, fatter, more lush whatever, it's nicer then it was. I'm really falling in love with it. With the tone on the guitar rolled way back the sound is fat and solid when run through the TS9 with it's gain cranked up. Give it some tone and the humbucker and it gets mean and edgy sounding. I love it.
  17. Not for the klipsch though. Two EL84 and Two 12AX7 Really simple dashboard Guitar Center was having a sale this morning so I picked up this little amp. It sounds great and Bubbles(my tele) is really happy about it. I wonder how long before I start rolling the 12AX7's with some of the old RCA's that I've got?? Peace, Josh
  18. I don't watch TV. Occasionally when I'm over at my sisters place hanging out with her room mates I'll catch a few minutes of whatever is on but that's about it.
  19. Awesome. One of the few people I've heard of that has the godin A4 fretless. I love mine and the real range of tones that it has. Peace, Josh
  20. I blasted a bunch of Enrique Iglesias tunes on my heresy's this afternoon.
  21. Actually I had a cute girl come up to talk to me about my Vespa the other day. It just uhh, wasn't my vespa. I just happened to be standing next to it. I played along for a minute before admitting that it wasn't mine but I did know who it belonged to.
  22. Good to see you back in these parts Justin.
