  1. Kenrodent, I have some JBL speakers which sound great for smaller speakers(and being free) My JBL have more bass(meaning they go lower) but the Heresy's have a stronger midrange and treble. Btw, my ticket was a group ticket at $48. Peace, Josh
  2. I saw them at their theater in chicago in 2000. They put on an awesome show with great music and great sound coming through the JBL pa speakers. I have their cd "Audio" and its got some great tracks on it but still(even with klipsch) doesn't capture the energy of the live show. Peace, Josh
  3. Yeah well, I was getting my tires rotated during spring break and found out I needed a brake job and that I had blown one of the rear shocks in my truck (stinkin speedbumps) A buddy of mine had a subaru outback that would run the 1/4 mile in 15.2 seconds. Not too shabby for a station wagon(did I mention the 60Hp shot of NOS) Now he has a WRX that runs a 14.7, it's also all wheel drive but not an off road car. That thing handles so well it's hard to get it to spin out. Peace, Josh
  4. Hi Kain, I use a yamaha HTR-5540 reciever. Currently the JBL's are the surrounds in my HT system. Klipsch Heresy for the mains and a ksc-c1 for the center. Timbre matching not exactly. But it's what I've got. Peace, Josh
  5. I've heard of it. I think the only CD I have that's an HDCD is Tracy Chapmans "Telling Stories". I'm not really sure what kind of a difference it makes because the only CD player I have that appears to be HDCD compatible is windows media player and my soundblaster does funny things to CD's anyway such as upsampling everything to 48kHz even standard CD's when using the digital out. Peace, Josh
  6. Congrats on the birthday. I wish I had a yurt. Those things are awesome. Are you using felt and whatnot to cover it or some modern equivalent? Peace, Josh
  7. The earthquake marvel was referring to must have been the one in alabama. It looks like it was fairly close since he is in north georgia. If only it had happened while i was home on spring break JK I hope the foundation is gonna be alright. I think I'll talk about cats now . Did the earthquake scare my baby kitty? Ok, back to speakers now. The L46 do have an ok midrange just not the same as the heresy The sensitivity on the L46 is about 86dB if I remember right and the power handling is 100 watts. Peace, Josh
  8. There was an earthquake?? Peace, Josh
  9. A not so great pic of my turntable. Peace, Josh
  10. Just another pic of the L46, which by the way has much deeper low end then the heresy. Not as clean on the low end but definetely(imo) better for reggae and other such bass happy music. However these are certainly lacking the midrange of the horn speakers. Peace, Josh
  11. I borrowed a digital camera from a buddy of mine so I thought I would post some pics. The pics of my heresy's didn't turn out too well so I'm gonna wait until I can get better ones before I post pics of them. In the meantime here is a pic of one of my JBL L46 speakers. I wasn't too sure of the quality settings on the digital camera, something that I never have trouble with on my old fully manual pentax spotmatic. Unfortunately I left the Pentax at home last week when I was on spring break Peace, Josh

  13. Wow, I can barely wait. I had already seen that trailer but the ultra version is nice. My computer handled it without a hitch. Peace, Josh
  14. I wish they came in grape or mango. Peace, Josh

  16. I understand the principle behind bass traps and other baffles and room tuning devices, but c'mon. I could make a pair of these with a jigsaw and some plywood in about an hour and they wouldn't cost $1000. Once again somebody proves to me that I'm in the wrong line of work. Btw, these guys also seem to sell the magic rocks that you set on top of your equipment to make it sound better. Peace, Josh
  17. You can't really do much without modifying the cabinets as the size of the horn mouth pretty much determines what the low end cutoff freq is. Up in the updating older speakers forum there is a thread about the LaScala driver and there are some posts on how to mod the cabinet so you get increased low end response. I don't know that you would be able to increase the low end enough to make it viable as a sub when you already have Khorns. But I am no expert. Peace, Josh
  18. I still miss the little k. Peace, Josh
  19. I believe Ferrari is owned by Fiat, a nice car maker if I may say so myself. btw, the car in the pic is not mine. Peace, Josh
  20. The Pizzaria Uno chain is pretty good but it doesn't hold a candle to the original in chicago. Peace, Josh
  21. At 110dB and up my ears think everything sounds a little bright. Chinese Tubes... Peace, Josh
  22. Those steel pennies from the WWII era have a sound that is to die forwhen you use them to increase the mass on your tone arm. You could always take some lead solder and wrap it around the tonarm on the headshell end. Peace, Josh
  23. The teasertrailer made waves(no pun intended) in motion graphics circles when it first came out due to the fact that it used a technically incorrect form of puntuation. The offending item was the ' in the sentences such as "To some it's a curse" Just like here on the BB the quotation marks and apostrophes are straight which technically denotes them as foot and inch markers. This was just some random stuff we were lectured on in class a while back. Peace, Josh
