  1. Besides the speakers themselves the reciever is including the processing of the sound and powering the speakers(unless you go for seperate processor and amplifier). So put your bet on how important they are [] If you are fine with used gear I may be able to get you some deals. The stuff I have are lying in storage without great use(I have like 5 sound cards which the audigy stays at the bottom of the chain...... I would never get it used). Then work your way towards big upgrade later on as you want more. Let me know if you are interested []
  2. Can't read korean........ but they look nice though, comparatively better than black because there's none of them around? []
  3. The difficulties for reaching reference around my location took me into considering synergy series too. I ended up with reference and happy with it even though they took me a while to find them from buying off second hand on this forum and many other places etc. But I can tell you they worth it! I grin evilly everytime I walk by the synergy speakers in Best Buy [6]
  4. The issue would be are you going to do any gaming? If you plan on going for those multichannel gaming yea Audigy is the only thing that you can go for(other cards are simply far from EAX 3.0 or something like that that and keep going up). I remember Aurilium is using some 16/48 DAC which is not that good compare to Audigy series(not to mention Envy24HT which is even better). Although you get the signal out digitally the sound card still makes it process the signal a little. You were quite similar to what I used to do 2 years ago or so [] . I used an Audigy 2ZS platinum and connect it to Pioneer Elite 43TX(through coaxial) then to the RF-3IIs. Both of the Audigy 2ZS Platinum and Pioneer reciever are lying in the storage now as I do not do gaming anymore and listen music much more on stand alone players etc(and kept buying more expensive recievers to replace the 43TX too.........) I considered about the VSX815 you mentioned above before picking up the 43TX too, the 815 unit has auto calibration but I ended up with 43TX instead. It was a little bit more expensive and without the auto calibration but sound quality is way better(Elite goes to another level than electronics like 815 does). I remember RCA has OEM from VSX815 which has exactly the same appearance and take me away from picking it as well.
  5. The best you can get out of computer into reciever would be using VIA Envy24HT(or -S) sound card and send them out by digital signal into reciever. Pretty much any reciever would do it nowadays. Depends on whether you want it 2 channel audio or HT, pick the reciever/pre/pro that you need.
  6. Amp usually has female end and preamp usually has male end on their XLR connection. I looked at both of outlaw and Sunfire's website online picture and they show the same. You should use the cable with one male and one female end. The male end goes to the amp and female end goes to the preamp etc. I am not sure whether the outlaw unit uses direct XLR like some bigger companies do or it is just interconverting from unbalanced(RCA). Check if it's correct or you won't be benefiting from switching to balanced.
  7. As they are on the same reference line and same generation, they should sound very similar. I would take the RB35s as you will get more out from the 2channel musics. And better upgrade path from going on. The sensitivity issue can be calibrated by your reciever easily, they do not come out exactly the same for every speaker anyway. 1 or 2 db do not affect too much after all.
  8. Good for you Jay, time for some party? [<)] My friends jump on my sub everytime they got into my room already(the PB 12ISD/V just looks like a nice, stable chair), I am glad that I live off campus since my freshman year and they can only come once in a while [:#]
  9. Yea give it a shot for parts express sub, compare to other brand they are not top notch but the price they are unbeatable. SVS does make good sub, but the price is simply out of the range of 300-400. Even 10ISD would be 500+ unless you pick up locally.
  10. Try to disconnect the satallite box from the TV and watch dvd, see if there's a difference. It looks like mostly grounding problem to me but not sure which source cause it.
  11. Glad to hear that! Tell us how they differ from RF-7s after you break them in [ip] My upgrade project got interrupted by unexpected expenses and I cannot get them anytime soon. But still congratulation!
  12. It's not new because this is a thread that is 5years ago []
  13. Try the Cambridge Audio 640H, it act as a music server with a hard drive. You can copy all the CD into its hard drive and let it play like computer with CD player quality(uncompressed). It's 160gb there so it's arond 300+CDs or so.
  14. I have the player and did some comparison with the Pioneer DV578A. Way better than the Pioneer in terms of picture quality. The low side is you have to use HDMI or DVI since the component only support upto 480i and no upscaling on it at all. But I would say definitely worth it, you can give it a shot and return it if you are not satisfy with its quality(they have 30days return from buying off their website).
  15. Iif you will go to seperate in a short time, look for something cheap....... like pioneer 1015 for $400 with AutoEQ and stuff. It wouldn't hurt that much compare to get a 1k reciever
  16. Check out zerosurge, they have similar idea of having no joule rating but not using MOV either. http://www.zerosurge.com/business.html The problems of all these MOVs and zerosurge are the same..... too high in cost and thus too high on the price. Compare to $50 10outlet surge protector they are out of the consideration for the majority. They are comparatively weaker on filtering EMI/RFI too
  17. Not interested but good luck on yours! It is really frustrating to try to sell something.
  18. Thanks. My pair is not in extremely great shape like brand new ones as most other used items do because one of them put next to the door and walk by it occasionally. However they work beautifully, that's all it counts [] The RF-3IIs just used monster cable for internal wiring, otherwise they are identical to RF-3s as I could remember correctly. Still did not take the picture yet as I did not have a chance to look for RF-83s yet. I will get everything done later as I am already awake for almost 24hours from the torture of biochemistry exam and driving for 5hours+ [|-)]
  19. I may have a pair of RF-3IIs...... still did not make up my mind yet. I will have to wait until next week and see if I am dragged into RF83s or not(if I buy the new pair the old ones have to be gone). []
  20. Did some search: http://wi.shipcompliant.com/StateDetail.aspx?StateID=58 http://wi.shipcompliant.com/StateDetail.aspx?StateID=57 It relaxed a little(a tiny bit) but does not help. NJ is still prohibited and limited by lisencing intrastate mailing. And NY has the extremely complicated system for all these(but now UPS take orders to NY). Compare to ordering other stuff online like cables or electronics, I guess people would rather hop into the car to the liquor shop unless they want to collect a particular one. Plus tax and shipping too. I'll keep my liver away from the jungle []
  21. I asked the same question like two years ago or so, and so as many others. Try to search within the forum(they still keep the old posts even changing the interface, great job and hats off to admins!). Most claimed 35s have tighter bass but non linear response on highs. I ended up mine with RF-3IIs and probably will decide whether keep it or not next week for another stage of sound (got bit to seriously consider RF-83s [] ). But I was more than satisfy with my purchase
  22. I will see what I can do next week while I have time to to the measurement. Lol they are just trying to get you drunk on your 21st birthday. Enjoy the moment but not having headache like world's really moving on the next day [] I'd take OJ and pretend I don't drink any alochol while people take their beer out [] Wine is really personal on taste....... just try more and see what your local liquor store gets(no more shipping on wine on many states). But definitely try Chardonnay if you plan on eating seafood and Cabernet Sauvignon if you like tea. Buy your friend some ethanol if they just want to get drunk and save the bucks for the wine [6]
  23. B&W gets lots of love or hate comments......... especially on the 700series(but they step up exponentially on 800series which out of consideration of majority). But hilarious on the Boss comment []
  24. It'd be nice to hear some music(or simply just some sound to keep you awake or busy) in the car especially hitting traffic. However too many people are just cranking the volume all the way up and abusing the bass. I know music is quite subjective but not having 100+db bass with 50db mid/high for me(all I hear is just the noise of glasses are vibrating as they loose) And I can appreciate the music that my home system can reproduce after I sat in my car for half an hour and heard some average music quality from stock audio.
