  1. Dale : When others are in there time of need our true character seems to surface , i know you'll handle things in your normal manner . Hope all is well with you . Judgeing by your comments on the above posts about not fooling with the pre amp , does this mean your moving ahead with another tube amp project ?? Maybe a SET ?
  2. Never mind it's not worth the argument .
  3. Dale : Why are you not useing one of your " current " LaScalas's as a center ? Last i heard your HT plan was 4 klipschorns , so what are you doing with the LaScala's ?
  4. First off you should go back and kick that light bulb salesman in the balls , secondly your first mistake was a DLP over a CRT . LCD and DLP are little more then poor folks theater front projectors , CRT's still rule the front projection kingdom , there black levels are still leaps and bounds above a DLP . Pick yourself up a case of bulbs and once there all burnt out then figure out how much money you just spent compared to a decent USED CRT . Really don't mean to burst your bubble but DLP's belong in bars and board rooms not HT . For the price of a DLP thats decent enough compared to a used CRT , you could throw in a nice SUV . For a USED CRT that sold for $50,000.00 5 years ago , can be had for $4000.00 to $7000.00 today !!!!!!!!! They will still blow the doors off those new $35000.00 sharp DLP's on the market today . I'll give full credit to those " LIGHT BULB " salesman !! they sure sucked in a lot of uninformed people .

  6. TOM : Check out the post in 2 channel by Dale Walker , he's looking for someone to split a pair of belles with that are on E-bay right now !!!
  7. I have no clue how they can sell these thing this cheap !!!!!!!!! You can't buy a couple decent 300b tubes and the iron to build your own 300b amps for 1k unless your using junk . This stuff coming out of hong kong always baffles me .
  8. HEY !!!!! Where the hell have you've been ??? Have'nt seen or heard from you in months. BTW . As if you need anymore speakers . lol
  9. The latest tour ( St Anger ) with " godsmack " was a great show in my opinion. Metallica used a round or block stage that sat in the center of the pavillion there spaeakers were all hung overhead as well as several large screens for the folks in the nosebleed seats to get a better view. The concert was incredibly ear splitting and the normal high energy you would expect from this aging group. I play a bit of guitar myself so knowing full well how difficult writing music can be i never condem any band at this level. Finding fresh material thats going to sit well with all fans must be near impossible a feat . Like i mentioned before , read the article in guitar worlds june addition or wait for the movie. I think most or all your questions will be resolve by one or the other.
  10. RFinco: Your comments are bang on the money !! Anyone on the outside looking in would think the same , pick up junes copy of guitar world and read the 10 page article. It addresses most of your issues and this movie is not a promo for " ST ANGER " it's a look at the human side of some self proclaimed " monsters " . There are scenes in this movie that no one in their right mind would not edit out of a movie in order to protect ones image. But mettalica wants the world to see just how good bad and ugly the world they created for themselves is. All of your above mentioned issues will be answered in either the movie or in the article. Keep an open mind and lets wait and see the other side of the story before we pass judgement on these guys.
  11. Read the article in this months addition of " Guitar World " about this summers release of " Some kind of monster " . I for one will not miss this one. Metallica is the " King " of metal , no doubt about it . This movie is a look inside the lives of james hetfield and lars ulrich along with the other band members. I for one have always admired the go f@ck yourself attitude this band has protrayed to the recording industry and media in general. This film is a open look at the Good " very bad " and " extremly ugly " life of this icon called METALLICA . I for one can hardly wait to see this film .
  12. Been to some intresting flee markets as of late, seen lots of old lp's in not to bad shape. Now how do you tell how old a record is or when it was recorded ? You know , you run across some old looking record cover of some band you have never heard of before. How do you know if it's a gem ? a keeper ? a jewel in the rough ? Second question is , are the canadian versions any better ? I read or heard someplace that the old canadian ( 50's and 60's ) recorded LP's were of superior quality , is there any truth to that ? I've been watching some E -bay record sales as of late and " HEY " you can make a sh!t load of cash selling old LP'S . But i have no clue how to date a record , any help guys ?
  13. Yup !! with the heart and soul of good old magnequest iron it's hard to go wrong .
  14. Mark : You seem like a kind and very wise man ( although we have never spoke ) , please do not let others sway your offerings. I for one lurked this place for quite some time before jumping in a few years back and have always enjoyed your technical imput when offered. I also have a good memory , How about when board members started buying up these used mark III's like they were on fire . I fondly remember kelly kwoofing at the idea of spending $500.00 buck for a pair of these , now craig rebuilds them like crazy and how many forum member own them ??? For that matter craig even based his new amp party on there design. How about when JFL was introduced to us by kelly ? Now we have board members with his pre-amps and tube amps, all great stuff. My point is all of us here can do nothing but benifit from the offerings of other forum members , don't let the trolls get under your skin. You have way to many friends here that you don't even know .
  15. Backburner : That gives a whole new meaning to a tailgate party !!!!!!!
  16. One quick surf through the 2 channel forum and one can find a dozen reasons for moderator intervention yet again . Maybe next time it will be a whole week instead of a few days. A few of you are once again going to spoil it for everyone.
  17. Kinda reminds me of a last visit to the doctor, he gave me some preperation H . On my next visit he asked me how it worked , i said for all the good that stuff done i might just as well shoved it up my ***.
  18. Yup i had a real hard on for those black 1989's , and i know after dale refinished them they'd be mint. Plus he's within traveling distance for pickup and most important of all i was dealing with dale on some ALK crossovers that he bought from another one of of bb members. So i figured a package deal of $4000.00 canadian was close for the speakers and extra pair of networks. But none of that matters because he kept them and i found a pair of 1985 birch khorns in saskatoon for $2800.00 canadian not more then 3 weeks ago. There not so pretty but nothing a coat of black paint won't fix Newer khorns in decent shape are a bit harder to find out here.

Yes $1400us I'm asking for but also if you read my ad,I'm open to offers ---------------- Dale Walker / edmonton alberta , you can reach him at painterstoy@yahoo.ca Don't believe me then ask him for yourself, dale posted pictures of them in updating older speakers.Dale also buys and sells tons of Scalas so he'll be able to give you the market feel. Klipsch did have a much stronger foothold in the west during the oil boom years so there is way more used klipsch here then what you'll see in the toronto area ( plus the population is way lower ) . I see LaScalas in the bargian finder press( which is listed under buy & sell.com on the internet ) almost weekly . You may have a shot at getting your asking price just because there is a shortage of heritage klipsch products in " YOUR " marketplace. The alternative is bringing them across the border which is always a pain in the ***.
  20. $1400.00 american is insane for used lascalas " in western canada " . You might get that down east but there a dime a dozen in alberta and BC. One of our board members bought a pair or 1989 black khorns ( in alberta ) for $1500.00 canadian !!! just 2 months ago. LaScalas ( used in decent shape ) are selling between $900.00 and $1200.00 canadian right now. $1400usd x 1.33 ( exchange rate ) = $1862.00 canadian is a bit on the high side. But hey " good luck " anyway .
  21. Gezz craig !!! from your topic heading i thought you bought a new hash pipe .
  22. I wonder if those " units " are stock or modified versions ?

  24. Does anyone know what a MG-S115DT intergrated looks or sounds like ? Friend of a friend has one for sale , SE & triod modes . Wants $500.00 canadian ( which is less then $400.00 american ) o.b.o .

Russ : one of our forum members thats bugged out of here has run stacks of levinson as well as some real over the top classe audio stuff . Dale Walker , now runs a RB-1090 he's posted several threads on this amp but got sick of battling the tube heads in 2 channel. He's the one that would know , considering he has k-horns with tubes and k-horns with the RB-1090. Maybe someday he'll find his way back here.
