  1. I appreciate your responces. I hadn't seen any like this before, hopefully I will be hearing them at my place soon.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3087370305 These are close to me, though these surrounds don't look correct. Am I right?
  3. This is starting to sound like a "wires" kind of thing. Sure be interesting reading when you all do your comaprisons. I always thought electrons were electrons, zeroes and ones were zeroes and ones... but I also remember being taught in the 60's and 70's that we would run out of petroleum before 2000 and we would all be driving around in flying cars.
  4. I like the picture and the detail trim on it, be nice to see other angels though.
  5. Andy, I agree some of the signatures again are just TOO BIG. I care about the content of the post, nice to know a little about the posters system background but when the signature is spread and spaced out over 3/4 of the screen (21" monitor running 1280x1024) and the post is just a line or two, well it is does take more time to navigate through to read the other posts.
  6. You are a good man for going back and taking everything and leaving the "old" man the money. As far as hooking it up, yeah I would do the same, but I would hook it up to some cheap speakers first.
  7. Why bother ... you couldn't hear it over the sound of the V8 and supercharger anyway.
  8. How far northwest of Tulsa are you? I may consider these to use as a center. thanks
  9. Great pictures. Nice speakers, now all you need are some Khorns in there. Nice to see those all together in one picture, sure helps to give perspective to the size of these speakers. I have been thinking about some Las to replace the Heresy's I am using in my home theater as surronds. Have khorn mains and belle center (with another belle in reserve if I ever go 6.1). The surronds get drowned out, imagine that, even though I have adjusted my receiver to deamphasize the fronts and center and emphasize the surrounds. The little heresy's just can't keep up. After seeing the picture of the corns, Las, and heresy together I dont think I have enough room to use LAS as surrounds. Perhaps I should buy 3-4 more heresy's and use those for all positions in the HT. (yea I would still keep the big horns for stereo listeningin that room and put the belles back in the den for stereo listeneing there).
  10. It's probably about time you shopped around for lower rates anyway. You should do this every other year, and don't be afraid to let your agent know you are comparing, kind of lights a fire under them to work for your business. Those guys work on commission. If you are a home owner and have/had your auto insurance with the same guy the threat of losing your business sometimes gets these guys working a bit harder.
  11. Friggin awesome sounding 2-channel sound. Been "going to Atlanta" with little feet all afternoon and a couple of ppitchers of margarita's. I have no idea about the finish, paper tag is missing, so if any of you would care to comment, I wouldn't mind.
  12. O yeah, they are mine!!! 1983 models with AK's (good or not so good). I will post pictures as soon as I get them moved. They sound fine and look good for '83 models. I may need some assistance in determining the finish, because the paper tag is gone but the serial number 20Y***** clearly identify them as '83. They appear to be wired with some pretty heavy gauge wire, any ideas on what went into '83's from Hope? I am pumped. I will pick them up as soon as some week day comes that doesn't threaten rain. They are going for a fifty mile ride in my pickup, and then you get pictures. And lets be carefull about diss'ing Bose, I have been really enjoying the early 70's model 901's (series 2) I have (with sub of course). I just watched Die another Day, sounds good, these Khorns better be DAMN good!!! I do know that the new satelite stuff from Bose leaves a great deal to be desired, I tried to use the acoustimass stuff for surrounds with the 901's and Promptly sent the stuff back to the retailer for a full refund. So in my opinion right now the old bose 901's are fine but the new stuff is not so good. But hey the bottom line is now I am very proud owner of Khorns, Belles, and Heresy. May have to watch for Cornwall's now :-). But I will need to get back to work someday, unemployment only lasts so long. OK I will shut up now. thanks to all for there assistance in this forum.
  13. The room is kind of odd shaped because of an entry door on the back and side of the room. The common wall against which the Khrons would sit is as I said 16', the long side wall which would be against the outside of the right channel speaker is 30', the short side wall would be against the outside of the left channel speaker is 21'. The surrounds are placed at this point, 21' back from the front wall. The offset for the entry door protrudes 4' into the left side of the back of the room and is 9' deep. I hope this gives a fair idea of the shape of the room. Now if I get these Khorns, I will have to come up with a suitable center channel speaker (or just use the phantom mode).
  14. What price range would I expect to pay for a pair of 20-25 year old Khorns? I haven't seen or heard them but I expect that they are in average cosmetic condition and in working condition. Anything I should look for, i.e. how do I identify an ALK crossover, original driver identification. I will know more about the age after I read the serial numbers. Second question, is regarding placing Khorns in the corners of a room along a 16' wall, I know it is not optimal, but how bad would it be? I am using a pair of '73 heresy speakers in that room as my surround speakers, would the Khorns be overpowering as the mains? Currently I am using a pair of (please don't hit me) Series 2 Bose 901's as the mains and with mt HT receiver I am able to balance the sound adequately. I only ask these because I know that you all are much more knowledgable regarding these matters than anyone else I could ask. Proud owner of 1972 KWP Belle's and and 1973 Heresy's. Before you ask, the Belle's are used in the 2-channel system in my den.
  15. anyone have anything to tell me about early '70s Pioneer receiver sx-440. I have been unable to find out much information about this, oh yes I did search. Also congrats to whomever won the HK-430 for $31 this morning.
  16. Hope this helps. http://home.earthlink.net/~ivol/klipsch_cornwall/klipsch_date_codes.htm
  17. Tell me more about this DVD please. Is it based on the TV special that aired recently, or does it draw more from actual concert recordings? I didn't care for the way that the TV special shortened the songs, and showed very little of the theatrical element that took place in the audience and on stage at the beginning of the performance,
  18. Thanks for the information. I will find out about the finish, take appropriate steps, and wax as you said. Sounds like a great thing to do to prevent additional damage.
  19. Cost? I hope I did alright on this? $2000. Plus a long day driving.
  20. Not to worry these aren't being used stacked like this, just on for the picture. Marantz 120 tuner, works well in very good cosmetic condition all lamps work and tuner function seems to be very good, included very good condition wood case for the tuner. The Mcintosh C26 pre-amp is in very good condition too, only slight bubble around headphone jack, operates very well, no noise in any of the controls, though the bottom right front of the wood case for the pre-amp has some damage.
  21. A little light rust, I would say no better than good cosmetic condition, though works well. MC250
  22. All four speakers had this emblem on them. This isn't the emblem I have been seeing on Klipsch speakers on auction. What is the history for these emblems, anyone?
  23. The heresy's were in good condition. Both had some slight cane damage to the front grill. One had some front top left corner veneer damage though very slight.
  24. One of the belle's riser had some damage to the veneer on the right side. Otherwise I would say they were in near mint condition. Has AK crossover network.
  25. Sorry about the picture quality, I think. Seems to show a lot more detail than I can see, plus I never noticed the rust on the black painted surface. I appreciate everyone's input. I also got a reply from Mcintoshlabs, they said I could try neverdull on chrome part but to not get it on the lettering, for the lettering was silk screened on.
