  1. ...So, the only thing I can think of is having the access panel on the bottom? That is correct. For more details you should ask HDBRbuilder. If you search the forum I'm sure you can find more info about building LaScalas. LOL!
  2. I only use my flexy rack for my video quipment. For Audio you want something heavy. Find something you can add sand or steel balls into. I've even seen stands with bricks on the bottom shelf. Spikes are good too and if you have hardwood floors use metal disks under them, partsexpress.com has them but I don't think they work on flexy racks. LOL.
  3. IMHO If your not a DIY stay away from the flexy rack. If you want rigid stay away from the flexy rack. If you have time and want to save$ build a flexy rack. Just keep it short and use 3/4in rod and at least 3/4in cabinet grade plywood (comes in Oak, Birch, Walnut... veneers) I just completed a flexy rack last week for my TV, VCR and DVD. I kept it low and wide (24Hx80Wx20D). I used a combo of 5/8 and 3/4 Zinc rod and 1/2 and 3/4 Birch plywood. I spent a few days sanding, staining and finishing the wood to look nice. I painted the rods flat black, but it flakes easily. It turned out nice and I got thumbs up from my wife too! However, for a great looking equipment rack, I like the Salamander line. But the price keeps me away. The anodized extruded aluminum strut material they use is awesome. If you want more strength and vibration control try this http://www.zoethecus.com/. LOL!
  4. Happy versay Justin! I wonder what we will all be listening to ten years from now? =HornEd Klipsch duh? I bought my LaScalas at an Army Exchange while stationed in Germany back in August of '86. I hope to pass them on to my daughter, when I'm deaf.
  5. Here is some new info on those blurry Heresys: "Serial # 8446178 (L) # 8448269 ® Model code HBR I bought them in 1985. As for pictures, I'll see what I can do." Bonus! made in the same year... Bid is still under $350 with 5days to go. What will they sell for, I wonder?
  6. I would like to bid on them but I bet the go for $450+. It's all about supply and demand on e-bay Plus another $50 on shipping are they worth it? I think I'd pay $400 for a nice pair within driving distance. Thanks for the info.
  7. The Heresy HIP was discussed in the General Questions forum but I thought I could ask a few questions here. Is the HIP 8 or 16ohm? I thought pro equipment is 16ohm. Does the HIP have a terminal block or 1/4in plug? Are they a good match with LaScalas for home use?
  8. I am more concerned about the availability of the K-33-E and replacing the wood that the woofer mounts to. The side door is simple. I saw a lot of wing nuts being used to clamp the woofer board in the cabinet and the top compartment to the base. Is this normal? I am ignorant when it comes to the assembly of the Khorn. "If you get the Khorn the LaScalas have to go", she said... And the asking price is... $1900 obo.
  9. Old post new question. Is the Heresy HIP still 8ohms? I thought most pro equipment is 16ohms. And does the HIP have a terminal block or 1/4in. plug? I found a pair for 300obo. I thought they might work as a center pair with my LaScalas??
  10. As Builder has mentioned lots and lots of hetitage were built so if you wait long enough they will come around. I looke at a pair today but the need some work. They are sequential #K### (1972). Owner says bought new only 12yrs ago (?). Some grooves on the tops but the rest looks good. Needs a few good oil jobs. One woofer was replaced with a K-43 and the side door is missing. Also the woofer mounting board is not original. I suspect it was replaced to fit the K-43. Crossovers are AA, K-77, K-55-V w/sequential S/N. If I buy these my LaScalas will have to go. Please advise: value? woofer rework? Am I crazy? (I know about the ALK crossover, that would come later)
  11. I'm getting frustrated with E-Bay too. I gave up on my last bid for Heresy's at $450. Shipping is another $50, which seems fair if they are packed right. I may just have to wait for a newspaper ad to find them or even an estate or yard sale. haha. Any idea how many Heritage speakers were built? I'd bet there are still plenty out there for a fair price. If you can wait...
  12. Your Cornwalls look great Chris! I hope to have a pair someday that can play with my LaScalas. But let's get back on topic about speaker wire. And yes, I understand we are talking about internal wire. So what gauge are we talking about and who is the best venor? Are you using crimp spades or solder? My New Year project is a pair of DIY CAT5 speaker cables. Have a safe new year and thanks all for a year of great reading!
  13. I'm out of town this week and I'll miss my Klipsch tonight. For the new year I'd like to get an invite to hear what HornEd has and is building. That is if he'd allow a Silicon Valley LaScala dude to visit. Thanks to all for a great year of reading. Happy New Year!
  14. It's black and it closed today at $550! I gave up at $450. A good thing too, my wife gave me the look of death when I told her I bid on it. She didn't even find any humor in the fact that I lost. To the winner, Enjoy! Sube
  15. Keep reading in this forum and you will learn a lot. Also, check out crazyeddies.com for Klipsch prices online. Most sales people will always ask what can you afford? But this may not get you what you want. Try buying a little at a time while keeping an ultimate goal in mind as to how you want it to sound. And remember, your HT size, structure, furniture etc. all take part in how your system will sound. What sounds good at the store may not sound good in your room. I have a pair of LaScalas and a KSW100 sub. The sub sounded good at the dealer but it sounds like mud in my living room and it does nothing for my HT movie experience. If you can spend 10K+ consider having a dealer audition a set of speakers in your home before you buy. Enjoy!
