  1. If you don't have that option and your sub as RCA ins and RCA outs, you might try turning sub off in the receiver. This may direct LFE out to the Mains (if the mains are set to LARGE). Then run your L and R MAIN OUT's to the Sub (this signal should contain L, R, LFE.) Then from your sub's output jacks back to the Pre-IN on your receiver (I think the yamaha's have this). This should this should then send the signal back to your main speakers(possibly after the low frequencies being filtered out).
  2. It retails for $1695. They sell from their showroom and have limited distribution, so if its in stores it might be a little more. I'm trying to upload pictures but I get timed out. I'll try again after dinner. Thanks for explaining the cancellation.
  3. I considered the RSW15 as well as the DefTech Supercube Ref. I've just heard that the Legacy Products are built really well and the people I've known that have heard them (all 2 of them) had indicated that it was very musical. I've heard the same thing about the infinity intermezzo, but it didn't have the output for the klipsh. This keeps up as well as the RSW15 in my opinion (which I've heard a lot and like). Nothing steared me away from the klipsch and I had been leaning toward that (though I really wanted a high pass filter on the sub and the dealer and brochure said it was unfiltered). I just had a chance to get this in mint condition and couldn't pass it up. It seems to be built incredibly well - like a tree trunk. I'll post a picture tomorrow.
  4. Thats not good service. Dealer should have given you a knew/demo until its fixed. Put pressure on the dealer to get you a new one or at least a demo until its done. My experience with klipsch on the rf7 was excellent, sent it back and replaced in 2 weeks.
  5. I would assume china, only based on someone would have answered "USA" by now if it were made here.
  6. What about the Patrician 800 corner horn? The owners manual says it goes down to 15hz. But back in those days, it doesn't say +- how many dbs. Judging buy its weight (315 pounds), and woofer size of 30 inches - I bet you could here it. My uncle has these and they are potent.
  7. the only thing worse than that video clip is that picture of Christine aglerieryea (sp). F**Kin Michelan Man... Agreed most of the music out today is horrible. But I'm sure there is a lot more music out there, its just that there are so few alternative (real ones) or album rock type stations out their anymore to promote it because it isn't commercial enough to sell air time (or they feel it only appeals to a very small portion. Their all after the 70% of the population, nobody cares about the other 30%.
  8. I'm using adcom power amps and RF7s/RC7 in for HT now. I also have used them in 2 channel with Heresy's. I think the sound is excellent. Some feel adcom is too bright and like a warmer sound. I'm a big fan of their power amps, but less impressed with their preamps (i have a spare 710 and multiroom pre that i don't particularly care for). I've not heard the preamp model you are referring to. You may wish to see if you can separate them if you don't like the pre.
  9. fletcherkane... So true... I was watching spy kids when a rock was thrown at a small clay flower pot. It broke and sounded like a dinasour step. This was the first I ever noticed that. Effects for the sake of effects...
  10. Just got my Legacy-audio Deep impact hooked up. I tried multiple ways, including just a single cable from the LFE, and then using no sub on the preamp and running everthing to the sub, crossing over to the main amps. I finally settled on something that is absolutely perfect (partly from remembering a blending of mains and sub post response from Deang (thanks!) awhile back, but with a twist). My LFE out crosses at 100hz, so I used by dbx route selector to enable me to "add or delete" the LFE into the main signal. Essentially one full range stereo signal goes to the main amps (passivley bi-amped) another goes to the sub (but with the ability to add LFE to it if I want). I only add the LFE (thru the dbx) when listening to DVD. When listening to cd/tuner etc, I can now perfectly blend the crossover with the mains especially with CD. I found a point around 70hz that seems perfect for music. The RF7s still get a full signal and probably work to about the low 30s but its blended with the sub now and is truly seemless with cd/tuner. The sub's in the corner, and it sounds like its coming from both speakers - Really amazing (I guess like it should). It took quite a bit a time (I hooked it up 3-4 different ways) before finally finding the right solution - 1.5 days on and off). I am in audio nirvana! Just fyi on the sub, The deep-impact uses 2 active 12" woofers, both w/20 pound magnet assemblies. One fires to the rear one fires to the front - the manual says it reduces cancellation - whatever the hell that means... Specs: Resp: 10-170, 22-100 +/- 3db max Output: 120db at 40hz alignment: 5th order (no idea what this means) Amp: 400 watts, high current. Now and FINAL: Klipsch across the front, 2 full range infinities as surrounds, Legacy sub, HK sig 2.0 preamp/processor, 7 channels of adcomx100 (w/4 of those channels feeding the RF7s! Sorry so long, Just thrilled to be done and I feel perfect (for me anyway)!
  11. I'm surprised klipsch doesn't buy one of these to find the serial number. Seems like they would be interested in what dealer is giving the stuff away. But, it does give you a good indication of the mark up.
  12. I think the only clean sport left is WWF. And Boxing. And the pure virginity of the Olympics of course.
  13. Thanks both of you for your replies. I don't own a variable transformer, but I may be able to borrow one. Could I buy one at Radio Shack? Thanks for the insight on the resistor as well. Looking forward to starting these up again. Thanks,
  14. 2 years ago I bought a pair of Scott 99ds. Last January we moved and I'm just now getting the room finished where I will have them connected to the Heresy 2's again. I remember reading here (but can't find it now) that when tube amps are in storage a certain process needs to be followed when bring them out. They've been in boxes at room temperature for 12 months. Is this short enough where nothing is necessary or do I need to do something? They were working great when I put them away. They use telefunken input tubes and Sovtek output tubes. Also, the person I bought them from used a 10k resistor on the input cable for a cd player. Is this necessary (he said because the amps weren't designed for 2.2 volts of input)? I've used with and without and couldn't tell a difference, but don't want to burn anything up. Thanks for any help.
  15. What about Vanilla Vodka? That's good. I cut a hole in my wall today and went right through the heating duct. Its pretty hot in this room now.
  16. There's not much better for clean, frightening bass is there?
  17. Fort Wayne to Madison for some serious bass, that's not bad. I drove from Fort Wayne to Washington DC to see Front 242 for some serious bass. Then back the next day. Yae, it was worth it.
  18. Product development for financial services company and excellent fishermen....Actually so so fisherman, but thouroughly enjoy it. Formerly of Fort Wayne, IN. Now in Northern CT.
  19. I almost bought the studio 100's, but then the dealer A/B them against the RF7s. I took the RF7s (the RF7s were hooked up to a receiver that was 1/2 the cost of that connected to the 100's). The Studio 100's needed a lot of power to come to life. They sounded warm and very good, but I just liked the brighter sound of klipsh. The A/B reminded me just how much.
  20. Frzninvt, Wow, the dbx amp sounds impressive. I've never seen an owners manual go into so much detail. ITs a shame dbx doesn't make home equipment any longer. Have you had a chance to compare the dbx to other amps available today as far as the type of sound, build quality? Would you say its way ahead of similar power amps from B&K, adcom, rotel, arogon (may have spelled wrong)? I'm just curious.
  21. I get a slight hiss noticable at about 1foot when I use the preamp, regardless of source. It doesn't get worse with volume, and its inaudible with music playing, even at a foot. Its just when idle that its noticable. If I run the power amp through an passive preamp, it is dead quiet, so the slight hiss is in the preamp in my situation. Can you run the MC250 direct without the preamp to see if this is where its coming from? I know the MC240 can be run this way, but not sure if the 250 has the same set up. I've eliminated my hiss by keeping my ear out of the horn
  22. Seems like one could take a stock RF7, remove the front where the drivers are attached and make a new front with the horn in the center. Seems very doable. Not for me of course, I'd screw it up. But for someone with better wood working skills. Actually, I think I could do it, but I don't have the tools, nor the need.
  23. I don't think there would be any adjustments to use if each amp section of the amp is identical. I'm running identical adcom amps in a passive bi amp setup and there is no need to adjust for volume/gain. I think its only if the amps are different that this poses some issue.
  24. I've got a 5.1 set up, but I split the signal into a separate passive preamp for 2 channel sound, and then use the tv for center sometime. My wife does this more than I as its less complicated for kids stuff and we use if for general tv watching as well. Its easy enough that my 5 year old can actually operate it!
  25. Planet P progect - Pink world. Great, unique, haunting and musical. I think it sold 4 copies. I had the album, and ordered the cd from amazon a few months ago for $35, kind of price. Its toney carey's project.
