  1. Nice clock...but how well does it sound?
  2. I wonder if MaxG has ever tried cleaning his LPs with Ouzo?[^o)]
  3. That's like saying a Steinway grand sounds superb even without a pianist! For all we know, maybe it does...
  4. Very nice indeed, Erik. Thanks for posting that particular system![]
  5. My first post...it was a Heritage owner's poll: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/13694/103339.aspx#103339
  6. If Sergei wanted Greg to have his marvelous "old" turntable, then I can only imagine the kind of turntable that replaced it (and I'd be set for life with the old Transrotor)! Good for you, Greg...enjoy![]
  7. It's an excellent recording, Dave. Even through my PC and ProMedias, it has a crisp, detailed sound, with well-placed musicians forming pin-point imaging within a well-rounded soundstage... In other words, it's gerrrraaaate! I'll eventually have to burn a disc and give it a critical listen on my system real soon. But it looks like (better yet, sounds like) you outdid yourself with this one, Dave...I'm gobsmacked![]
  8. Who's using a pro amp to drive his speakers here? Not me! I have nothing against pro amps for home use if that's your thing. But I'd rather use designs that are specifically targeted for consumer loudspeakers. Even the DIY 15" subwoofer I had years ago was driven first by two Carver amps each bridged to mono (no, not Carver Professional), and then later by an SAE power amp.
  9. Ditto on all the birthday wishes, Bob![]
  10. Dang...an April Fool's joke (no kiddin'...see the Gothic label's website).[:S]
  11. Thanks, Dave. Just finished downloading the files...should be entertaining late-night listening for sure![8][O]
  12. All I can say, Dave, is go for it! It's obviously a worthwhile project that'll hopefully have capital results (pun intended if you do actually make some money at it). You certainly have my support.[]
  13. One can never have too many loudspeakers, I always say.
  14. Thanks for the latest reply and Klipschorn pics, Erland...they are simply marvelous!
  15. I agree with Dean, Mark, Ron, and others who think the meter is nothing but a silly go-faster! As much as I love Mac's big blue meters on their amps and preamps, I feel it's just too garish on a turntable IMHO. Therefor, I submit to McIntosh a redesign of the MT10's faceplate (or for any upcoming 'table updates)...
  16. Since my little 300B SET stereo amp has nothing in the way of Erland's iron and seperate power supplies, I've obviously never heard the full potential of my 300Bs, that much is certain! You've done some beautiful work...I know they even sound better than they look, especially thru those DIY Klipschorns! Did you design the Klipschorn cabinets yourself? They're absolutely wonderful![Y] If you have more pictures of your finished monoblocks/power supplies and those Klipschorns, please don't be modest and post them! Any closeup images would be much appreciated (but don't go out of your way if none exist...we want you to enjoy listening to your system instead of taking more pictures of it). Just curious...do you eventually plan on purchasing a third audio rack like the ones you've already got to add your amps/power supplies? Is it a concern for you to maybe take the units out from the bottom shelf where space is tight so they can breath better in a more ventilated rack? Regardless, you have a magnificent layout, Erland...one you should be very proud of! Enjoy.[8]
  17. Catbo, for someone who's very modest, you've certainly got skills. Go ahead and brag, man![H]
  18. There are many of us SET for life, John...who says low power can't be enjoyable? Welcome to the club![]
  19. Erik, even with only two systems, I bet your home is quite musical no matter where you're at! Ray, nice vintage gear. That Marantz is sweet...from your description it must really sound superb with those Epic Klipsch (real sleepers overshadowed by Heritage and Reference IMO...Klipsch should've continued the Epic Series as far as I'm concerned).[Y]
  20. Thanks, Bruce...I never would've guessed a Godin. Sure is sweet! Wish I knew how to play one, too.
  21. Bruce, that house and all your "stuff" is who you are (along with that organ pipe...too bad the foot's missing; you could really huff and puff into it to make it speak and it would take all your breath to do so...loads of fun for the whole family)...I'm sure the new lady will accept it all as she has accepted you.[] And is that guitar a burled maple Dean? I'm still trying to guess...
  22. Erik, it's always a pleasure to see your numerous systems. Bet your ceramic 2-ways are great to listen to as much as those Lowthers (and your Heritage HT as well). Must be nice to be handy...I have two left thumbs and had to learn the hard way which end of a soldering iron to hold onto (hard to believe I'm my dad's first born).[:$]
  23. Bet all the systems from the above pics sound spectacular...I'm green with envy.[] Hopefully someday in my lifetime I'll have a dedicated music room like all those pictured here...just not today.[]
  24. All your 'tables are beautiful, T4L...I can attest to the Technics being a solid performer since I now own my dad's '79 SL-1700MK2 (the semiauto version of your deck). And those Duals are perfect examples of what that company did right, especially that Golden 1. I can see why you're a happy wax-spinner again now that all your turntables are aligned correctly. Bet those NOS Shures have an awful lot to do with you grinnin' from ear to ear as well! Enjoy.[]
