  1. The first one, the infamous T-rex footsteps. There is information that goes down as far as 5hz, but its very..VERY little and most of it is in the 15-20hz range...which is still farkin deep lol.

    HT spl?

I know THX reference (The real cert. of old, when it ment something) is something like 110db at 31.5hz with dynamic overall sound having at least 115db of clean headroom. But depending on your wants, 105db should be plenty.

When it came to all out bass or extreme deep bass, I found the Return of The King for choice. I know you might mention the shock wave on the first chapter of FOTR or even the Belrog scene. But the Tower Crash (near the end)in ROTK is just sickening, a real subwoofing finale. A dynamic swoop of 14hz sub-atomic power. Besides, the Battles in ROTK as you said are a site to behold. The trilogy is something that will be remembered forever in movie history.
  4. I'd consider Amy Lee to also be among these lists. Her voice is not only smooth and dynamic, but she can hit just about any part of the vocal octave.(Almost, of course shes not gonna reach baritone/bass for crying out loud rofl. That freak the hell outta me) Many compare her voice to Sarah McLachlan. I don't think shes as smooth as Sarah, but close. Her My Immortal song (CD orignal, not Radio/MTV version) is widely consider to be up there with "In The Arms of An Angel".

But that hasn't kept me from my audio loving hobbies. Glad to see many still around. Man Return of The King is such a wicked movie. Def. a movie to test any HT system to its full extent, besides being a great movie in general.
  6. I just picked up the movie today. I've seen it in theaters before..but I had to get this to complete the collection. Anyhoo first off, I must say that this movie kicks alot of ***, as does the whole trilogy. The bass in this movie is just sickening. My Sunfire Signature and PM 5.1 Ultra sub got a frickin gasping workout..but boy did it shake the rafters and climb up your spine. The last scene with the shock wave...HOLY ****! True 14hz ladies and gentlemen...that part will give the best of subwoofers a nice streching. Any loose objects should be taken down for that one, accually the whole movie lol. I loved it though, def. a great buy!
  7. What I did with my TV in my room was, hook the preamp to the headphone unit, and then hooked up the surround back into the AUX part of the preamp. Giving me a 2x Stereo effect. It sounded a lot more natural then on my computer because it didn't get any sort of interference or EQ from the computer or the soundcard.

I saw that it looks decent, and I missed one the other day for like $75. Thanks! ---------------- How did you find it for $75..are you sure?? Thats a fairly new $300 sub?
  9. Getting a Pair of 1972 Pioneer CS-R700's...for free
  10. Mine is 24x20 with the living room opening up into the whole kitchen lol, so its accually a bit bigger. Measurements where done at sitting position in the living room. It just depends on your need. The thing with the Sunfire Signature is that all of its output is under 40hz. This is a real sub, there is no upper peak at all, its all about the sub-sonic slam, no peak punch..so if you like to listen to for example, rap music on your subs, I wouldn't recommend this sub. The reason why the Sunfire Signature is so special is that it is so small, damn near unseen to the eye, yet its force is well felt. I'd say in your situation, I dunno i'd say either go with the Sunfire Signature or SVS PB2. The SVS is more powerful, much larger however...it depends on your needs and space area.
  11. Well in my tests at 31.5hz, The Sunfire Signature was belting 118db (31.5hz), and at 20hz still doing 103db, after which is starts dropping like a stone and output is not very useable at all under 18-19hz, at which the PR is flying like a jackhammer. From what I know of the RSW-15, its max output was precieved at 116db at 31.5 hz, and at 20hz...97db. I dunno, I got my sub for $1400.

Subs like the RSW15 and the Velodyne HGS do accomplish some very good output in a reasonably sized box but this unfortunately drives the costs up. ---------------- ROFL, even though the Sunfire Signature has more output then the RSW-15
  14. Thats a picture of it. (SA-WX700) I do agree most of Sony's stuff is garbage, but as far as Car audio goes, there decks are good.
  15. ---------------- On 4/14/2004 11:42:50 AM ygmn wrote: I have never seen peeps with huge SUbs ever wish they had smaller subs... but I have seen people who had small subs want bigger ones.... ---------------- haha, very true. But say that to my 13" cubed Sunfire Signature, its hangs with the bigger boys, and makes a few beg for it. I really do need to invest in an SVS sub, that Pb2 is just looking too tempting.
  16. EAR believe me, the Machine voice is simply thee most dynamic piece of audio you have ever witnessed...I kid you not. I tried it on both my HT system and my Computer system. For Computer, the Promedia's did pretty well with the movie, but of course failed horribly on the Machine voice. Of Course, in HT my Pioneer CS-R700's did not. They have dynamics too kill and the deep/loud voice of the machine shook the room and you felt every part of him in your body. My AMP EQ was redline-ing as well, I've never seen it go that far. MY Sunfire Signature got a nice workout from this movie, more so then the LOTR trilogy.
  17. Now we all know SVS is better for subsonic bliss, all good and well. But 0o0o0o the first time I heard a kick-drum on the RSW-15. The slam factor, the clarity...omfg thinking about almost makes me shiver.
  18. The Sunfire Signature I have will play 31.5hz even louder then the RSW-15 will, however above 40hz...the RSW will be louder because of its musical peak. The Sunfire is a true subwoofer, its not ment to have any midbass, just subsonic bliss. Thats certainly not to say the RSW-15 can hold its own, because it most certainly can, but it won't play as loud in the 20hz-31.5hz area. ITs about even around 35hz.
  19. Thats pretty much what that Sony does that I posted the pic about. Its solid down to 31.5hz (unlike the **** *** WA-40) and its hella loud in the 45hz-120hz area. Its boomy (Although much tighter then previous models), but i'll admit..for $300, its pretty damn good, and certainly better then any of their last POS's. The sub weighs in at 62 pounds, and as you see..sony put some thought into building woofers this time around, the motor assembely isn't bad either on each woofer. All in all, as I've said..for the price you can't plain as this is the best sub I've seen outta them.
  20. Well hers a pic of that Dual 10" I was talking about, the SA-WX700. Problem is, its $300..so my bad lol. I thought it was cheaper.
  21. You should just buy that new sub that sony released for around $200 (Might be cheaper, I don't remember. Its dual 10" with 200w amp. Yes I know its Sony, but I couldn't believe how serious the drivers looked for being such a cheap product, I mean..I was shocked rofl. It was certaintly FAR better then that WA-40 POS thing was (or whatever it was called). It will get up there in the boomy area if ya needed it too.
  22. SWS has a selectable 60hz/90hz xover setting. So SWS wouldn't work for him either, as its basically 3/4's of what an Ultra is.
  23. I'm planning to put my Ultra/SWS in my car as well, what was it like 007..did it compare well with other Car Audio setup? How was the bass, could it get loud and deep?
  24. He has two of them, said he doesn't need have a need for both anymore, so he said he'd sell one of em too me for $79. (He bought them during the $99 sale beginning of January.
