  1. Who you callin' a hoe? I've never heard Denon, but I prefer my Yamaha HTR5150 over my HarmanKardon95.
  2. DTLongo, Your lack of bass could be the fault of your receiver. Through my HK 95 solid state my '84 khorns bass is non-existent at low levels. When I hook up my Scott 299 integrated tube amp the bass is more prevalent. Could be the bass mod Craig did. I too, have a less than optimum room for them; but the crispness of the mids and highs makes it all alright. When I feel I need a bass blast I turn on my 1000W JBL 18" subwoofer powered by an Adcom GFA555 bridged mono. Having a center ch preout on that old Scott is awesome.
  3. I'd go with the 90's unless the others have a nicer finish. They're closer and the cheapest, too. I don't believe there was a major change except the 98's are MDF instead of plywood, I believe. I enjoy my '84 khorns with vintage tube gear and I am enamored with the sound. I think you'll be quite satisfied.
  4. You should be able to use a glue remover on those labels. As far as the lack of low end; Is there anything "blocking" the sides. You should have about 4 feet from the corners both ways. No door or window openings or furniture. Just an idea. Maybe you should be posting in the 2 Channel section for more input. Unless you're planning to modify your brand new Khorns.
  5. RadioHead: "proper propaganda" is that Dialated Peoples your quoting?
  6. Now when you use rope caulk, do you put it over the base of the woofer and horn ie. over the screws? I thought i read that before.
  7. I'm tryin to buy them, but he quoted shipping at $480 from upstate NY to SW Ohio!! I could've come up this past weekend, but he didn't get my email, probably a good thing considering the weather conditions up there. I guess they're not for sale anymore.
  8. I too, am getting back into vinyl. The "black" noise is hard to get used to. Does your 222 have a scratch filter I find that helps to curve it but it's still there. I have a Rotel RB2500 going through a 299A. I enjoy the sound of my TT, but I definately hear room for improvement. I'm not very familiar with these, but I'm learning. Probably needs a new stylus or different cartridge. Mine too, is an Audio Technica. I was a little apprehensive going back into vinyl because of the cost of a different media, but I'm finding records everywhere and cheap too. I have a friend who's aunt just past away and he got all her records. Since he doesn't have a TT, he let me pick through them and take whatever I wanted. I must have got 50 albums, good stuff too. All the Led Zepplin albums, Pink Floyd, Boston, etc. I even scored some Jean Luc Ponty records and various Blues. The record sleeves are pretty mangled but all teh records so far have been very clean and flat. I'm happy. (not for my friends loss, but my gain)
  9. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this is before FM stereo so your FM will be mono and only play out of one side. As far as a match up, sure it's tube stuff from about the same era. Although the 330B is about 5 or 6 years older than a 299B. I think these were made when FM was still scarce as there are 3 diff. settings for AM. Bottom line: I wouldn't buy this. Do you really need an FM tuner anyway? If so I'd think you'd want it in stereo, no? just my $.02
  10. yeah I thought the AK3 crossovers were by far better than the AK2. And were similar to the ALKs (the AK3 that is). The AK2 I'm told is the slouch of the bunch. I don't know if the AA would be an improvement or not. If you try them don't forget about the rest of the woofer crossover inside the woofer door. Hope you enjoy them nonetheless!
  11. m00n, I'm glad your finally happy with your Belles. Flason, was that you that bought another HK730 on ebay tonight? I forgot to drop a bid on that you lucky...
  12. What's the seriel numbers on the ones your selling? I might be interested in buying them.
  13. m00n, I was in your shoes a month or 2 ago. I wanted to try tubes but didn't know where to start. I considered the Jolidas for the looks, but wanted to get back into vinyl. I found a Scott 299A mkII on ebay shipped it to Craig, had some problems when I got it back, but Craig is very helpful and he goes out of his way to make things sound right. I couldn't be happier.
  14. There you go M00n, that's just what you need. Have you made a decision on what tube gear to get?
  15. Wow what a find you lucky SOB! I'm truly jealous. I never find any good stuff at Goodwill.
  16. Paramours are the mono block amp kits. Tom's pics show the Foreplay preamp with a pair of Paramours. Very nice!
  17. Moon, The foreplay preamp kit runs about $150. The Paramours sell for around $500 for the pair I think. It's been a while since I ordered. It took 6 weeks to get the Foreplay. You can check it out at www.bottlehead.com .
  18. Tom that looks great! I just received my Foreplay kit Friday. I'll be solderin' tomorrow. How long did it take you to complete it?
  19. Moon, Your right about a watch not being able to replacing Cornwalls. And "Tag" is short for Tag Heuer, which is an expensive watch, kinda like my Rolex.
  20. Wes, Maybe you could send me a copy of the false wall lit. I emailed you.
  21. Hey Craig, what kind of Telefunkens are in my 299A? If you can remember mine.
  22. Diggs, does your 630 have any fuses on the inside? I didn't find any in mine. Just the 3 on the outside. After cleaning and replacing fuses, I still haven't hooked mine up yet to the K-horns yet. I've been hella busy and I just can't seem to turn the 299 Craig rebuilt for me off. I just love it too much to replace. I heard we might get snow on Sunday; sounds like a good day to stay in and play.
  23. dBlue, you "love Tool" no big surprise considering your avatar. Dean, you've never heard of TOOL!? You're missin' out my friend. You've listened to a Perfect Circle, right? We need to get together, I'll show the ways of Tool; if you like it I'll burn you a CD or 2.
