  1. I'm glad it's all working out for you Lonestar and that preamp looks awesome! Only thing that has me baffled is this guy had a kick@ss setup w/ this pre and 22W of SET monoblocs and he's "selling to get back into solid state". WTFever!! I bet he had over $8k in that setup; I wonder how much he'll spend on SS that will sound as good. He must not have Klipsch speakers.
  2. Are you sure the drivers are identical? Since '95, they've probably had a change in the manufacturer of the drivers. The slight change has caused a crossover change as well. I'm merely speculating here.
  3. Half submerged? He's about 89% submerged. That dogs a goner. He's in quicksand for Pete's sake! Randy what is that depicting? I see the Pope, people fighting a fire; and what's up the those babies being so buff?
  4. Does that include Piranha's and my donations? The BB shuffled our posts into the middle of this thread.

Of course, there ain't no way in hell I'm going to let him give more than me -- so I'm throwing in another $25. We need 7 more. ---------------- Count me in Dean! I'll just give you cash when I see you next. You'll probably want these crossovers back. Edit: How the hell was I able to quote Dean before he even posted that? Something screwy is going on here. Oh yeah, it's 420 all day today. The b-board must be hitting the bong already!

Most Klipschters here are a bunch of cheap bastards. ---------------- That's all I was trying to say to begin with. Here's the thread in question: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=43517&sessionID={5AC0E69B-AD71-4DA9-B3FB-D91612648509} Looks like he received an offer for $2500 and didn't take it. Sorry for the misinformation.

The ASL is 30W/ch. More than enough for me. The Volume knob was @ the 11:00 position and we were hitting 110db peaks. That's as loud as I usually go, out of respect for my neighbors and I don't like the police knockin' at my door. I got warrants.
  8. LedZep, You pulled the auction. I assumed you sold them outside ebay. No such luck? You'll be hard pressed to get $3000 around here for them. Welcome to the Klipsch forum. A magical place where a fellow paid $800 for a pair of Khorns last year. A place where nobody would buy a pair of mint 90ish Khorns, autographed by PWKlipsch himself for $2500!!!
  9. Damn, I was waiting for the Hooter pics before I pulled the trigger on these!
  10. I just met Dean for the first time today... What an a-hole. You were right Craig!
  11. I said I'd post a pic so here you go. The shadows in the slates can't be seen w/ the naked eye, just with the flash. He custom built this one for me in less than a week. I paid for it via paypal on Weds and it arrives on my door by Sat. Can't beat that for speedy service. Thanks again Alan!
  12. I had just mentioned this in Dean's post, but since noone probably reads any of Dean's posts I thought I should start a new thread. I was blown away by the wonderful packaging job and how fast Alan shipped the cabinet to me. $80 shipped to my door is an incredible bargain. The cabinet really helps with the WAF and distracts you from noticing the many imperfections. I'm quite happy! Thanks alot Alan!
  13. Here's a pic of the back of one of the LaScalas, shows both crossovers. It sure was a PITA (for Dean) working in the tight space.
  14. Yep, Dean finally came over, and he sure is one hulluva nice guy! Sorry it took me all day to finally post about this. Shortly after Dean left, my lady came home from clothes shopping and I had to spend some quality time w/ her. First let me make a correction to Dean's post. It was "arfz28" that built my walnut cabinet for my Scott 272. Alan, I must say I'm impressed. I'll post pics soon. Dean and I got a kick out of unpacking that cabinet! Alan must be very anal retentive. I've had amplifiers sent to me that haven't been packed as well as that cabinet was. Nice job! Now back to Dean's Type A crossovers. Absolutely, positively, a better sound is now emitting from my '76 LaScalas! Like he'd said, when the type A crossover was on the left ch. and the stock AA on the right I immediately heard the difference. To me the AA sounded like it was in a tunnel. The mids just seemed to resonate. I don't think Dean had planned on putting both crossovers in at first but the sound of the type AA paled in comparison to the new type A. Once both were in place, I was ecstatic about what I was hearing. They sounded great at all volumes! We listened to mostly modern rock and some heavy sh!t as well. The playlist included: Alice in Chains, Primer55, Transplants, Toadies, Probot, and A Perfect Circle to name a few. I don't know if what I was hearing was better by design and/or if my type AAs are just old and out of spec. Either way I'll definately have to address my crossover problem. Dean's being a nice guy and letting me borrow the Type A crossovers for a week or so. I doubt I'll be able to go back to the Type AA crossovers. It's probably part of his plan to get me to buy a pair from him. Craig, I doubt you'd like these. So I'll just hold on to them for you. You're probably too busy to even put them in. I tell you what; I'll call you, put you on the speaker-phone, crank it up, and you can decide for yourself.
  15. That is too freakin' funny that they're here in Dayton. Too bad I drove 9 hours each way for mine. I don't think I could've waited 2 years for a pair to pop up in my backyard though. I would be apprehensive with this seller, check his feedback. I'd be happy to check these out for anyone wanting a full report. Doesn't look like he has good corners, but I can rattle the windows if he lets me. That's assuming he's local.
  16. Ki, good eye. Yes, I'm using Heresies for rears as well. All Heritage, all tube home theater.
  17. Thanks Jmon, No I haven't tried inverting the center Heresy. I'm debating whether or not to sink the heresy into the wall or suspending it. I don't like the shelf it's on, though. I will have to flip it around to see if I like it upside down.
  18. I bet they wouldn't sound right because of the different drivers. You better just bring them over here and we can hook them to type AA La Scalas and/or type AK2 Khorns.
  19. minn-male, I know the Pioneer is a cheap player but for my purposes it works very well. Maybe it was a synergy problem w/ your friends Denon and the DV-563A. There's also mods that can be done to the Pioneer. Regardless, I am quite satisfied with this setup. Also, I'm not completely sold on either DVDA or SACD. There's just not enough music that I listen to on either format. I'd hate to put all my eggs in one basket, MiniDisc comes to mind. I just don't see both formats sticking around. The only thing that blows is no remote for volume and turning up or down the volume is a pain, because I have 3 volumes to control.
  20. Dean, Did you hook them up to your Khorns?
  21. I prefer the Scott 299 over the MC-250 hands down in my setup. As much as I liked seeing McIntosh in my rack, "tube-like" sound is just not tube enough for me. How about this for a HT solution: Pioneer DV-563, Scott 99D, 2 Scott 299B, and an SVS sub. Sounds amazing and can be had for about $2k! You also have SACD and DVD-A capabilities.
  22. I have a 209 and the one light seems to flicker on one side occasionally. Sounds fine, should I be worried?
  23. Guy, how can you tell if the 'funkens are fake?
