Need informative pictures about set up K-horns
Johnny dB replied to tcb's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
smilin and kenratboy, Thanks! tcb, It's about 13' corner to corner. They are 8 feet apart from the inside corners. Colin, actually there's more bass coming out of the left because of the couch being real close to the right. It's hardly notible though. -

Did somebody say they wanted to see my Khorn setup? I jump at the chance to show off my beautiful babies! You can see the false wall I had to build. -
Craig, have you considered a pair of Fortes? I liked my Fortes overall presentation over the KLF-20s they replaced. Just a thought.

I've seen Chorus I sell from $500 to $750. You'd be hard pressed to sell them w/ mismatched woofers.

Scott299 high mids and low tweets distort.

I was hearing scratching on high vocals through my LS and 299. Turned out to be the source. Switched CDPs and all is well. -
Pics would help you sell that beast.

Close second? ...doubtful. Not to be boorish, but how did that dual open baffle sound good? Are those automotive woofers and are they free-air? What was he using to power 4 15" woofers? How are they wired up; are they in a push-pull setup?

---------------- On 4/4/2004 10:18:23 PM DeanG wrote: I don't know what happened through the early 90s, but what you are saying kind of makes sense. It seems the K55V was a much better driver than the K55M. My initial post regarding the 1985 year was based on several posts by Dennis (DJK) at the Asylum. This was the year he preferred, so I recommend it based primarily on that. I could be wrong, but I think the K55V was an Atlas, and later was Electrovoice. Can anyone confirm if I'm right or wrong here? I almost wish I would have bought some older Klipschorns, if only to have something to try out different filters. I may have to at least track down some LaScalas to do this. What I do find interesting is that those using low powered triode amps almost universally prefer the Type A, while those using solid state and UL or Pentode PP -- prefer the Type AA, and other newer networks. I still maintain that complexity in a circuit does not necessarily make it inferior or less musical. ---------------- Hey Dean, you're more than welcome to use my '84 Khorns as test subjects if you'd like. Anything for the sake of progress!

Forte's, it's a no-brainer. If you don't like them, you could always sell those Fortes for what you have in them.

Car shopping with a 17 yr old duaghter
Johnny dB replied to NOSValves's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
My 1st whip was a '72 Caddie Coupe DeVille. I bought it from a doctor who thought it was "dead". Gave him $400, changed the plugs and points, then drove it off his office parking lot. What a cool car! Power everything. The front seat would almost lay completely flat; so you could roll from the front seat to the back with ease. Had a torquey 472ci that would lay a 20 foot patch w/ 6 people in the car. What a fun ride. I wish I still had it. PS. Craig, I think I helped pay for that new car of your daughters. -
Trey, I plan on being there.

C'mon, fess up. You like the looks of the Cayin over the Scott, don't you? -
Mace, Dream Theater... I seen them back in '93, back in my college days. Great concert in a small venue!

If I had 2 decent corners in the bedroom I would!

I would sell my '76 LaScalas for $1400. Unique in that they have full front cloth grill and Paul W. Klipsch signatures as well. They have the TypeAA crossovers. I live in SW Ohio and would be willing to help in transporting these to a new home. The only reason I'm selling these is; they are just too big to be bedroom speakers. I'll post pics in the morning.

Which is better between the two???????????????????
Johnny dB replied to RAPTORMAN's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Hmmmmmmm..... 500W/ch from SS or 110W/ch from tube monoblocks. Uh, I'd say get the Aranov setup. Both are overkill on Khorns, but I'd say the tubes would be more of a match. The seller of the huge McIntosh is only selling to go back to tubes (must be somethin' to them tubes). -
That's great! So when are you going back to pick up the Khorns? I wish there was a Klipsch Heritage dealer within 100 miles of me.
