This list is of seriously good music, very well recorded & mixed. I'm disappointed in the "Telarc Classical SACD Sampler 2". I'm hearing what sounds like tape hiss on some very quiet passages. SSH

We make Hab & Red Hab hot sauce every year by the gallons & let it age in spare refrigerators. It's really hard to keep any over 3 years old, because it's sooo much better than the "fresh". Some, I make eight times hotter than others. I've never been asked for any hotter. If you drink a 300,000 scoville unit sauce or hotter, understand that this isn't a challenge. I use it as a multi-purpose additive to sauces & foods. I must drink whisky by the gallon to have bottles for pepper sauce. SSH

I made it to the "Celebration of Life" festival in LA., soon after Woodstock, but it was so damned hot that my ride demanded that we leave after only four blistering hours in the Saturday afternoon sun. The best of it was sharing a ride back to town with a beautiful hippie chick & her boyfriend & brother, after she, in appreciation for the ride, took off her top. The look of the "townfolk" when she got out topless was almost as enjoyable. SSH

Yes, the 2 channel listen is an improvement. My Marantz is a multi-player, so I often listen in multi-channel, but 2 channel is what many older recordings are going to be in, anyway. The Phillips suggestion is a good one, and you can spend much more, arguably with considerably better quality. I'd like to hear the Shanling. Heck, I'd like to see_ it playing in my rack; it's a beautiful machine. SSH

My experience has been that otherwise small (or, based on other's doubts that there is an audible difference, negligable) additions to the stream can make a significant difference for one who has spent time listening to a high quality amp before the additions were made. My bet is, that Edster gets a little excited with the improvement... once he survives the anxiety of waiting to get to hear it. SSH

Interesting post, Erik. I'd like to hear Jeff's comments. The design of my 2A3 monoblocks is a little different from the Horus, but they do have the cobalt transformers, and I'd say, "Save away". I didn't think they were currently available, but Jeff may have been brand-specific when he told me that. dr. hug, Welcome to the forum. I, too, have looked at Shandling (SACD), but have no knowledge of it beyond reading. I have seen used CD players on Audiogon. I don't know of a Shandling user on the forum, but would also be interested in responses. SSH
