  1. Dale, I listen to a 299A he did that sounds great. I also enjoy a JFL 2A3. SSH
  2. I've dismantled my 7.1, reducing the rear centers to 1 that isn't hooked-up yet. I'm in no hurry to do so, since 5.1 is what everything I play is recorded for. 7.1 was a waste to me. Using Heratige all around, I don't forsee 7.1 again until the format gets some recordings out. SSH
  3. panman, I put a LaS under my 40" & it does raise it a lot. It didn't sound good on its' side, so it is standing up. It takes getting used to. SSH
  4. Dee, I was going to ask what you have. Maybe we can listen to more than my Cary SLP 2002. SSH
  5. Dee, Just after posting, I noticed I had a message. My post was in response to your post, but it's funny that I answered your message's question. SSH
  6. Dee, If I can make it, I'll bring the Dionysus monoblocks. SSH

boomac, We expect at least a first impression soon. Age old problem- get a new toy & you don't have time to post . Congratulations. I hope the set-up is going well. SSH
  8. What type of input connection does the KPT 684 take? SSH

I've spent hundreds of hours enjoying Eric Clapton, believing that he has spirit-and-soul rock & roll. His blues is heartful & from the depths of human loss & hopefulness, in spite of it. I'm sorry if this isn't other's experience, but for me, it is. SSH
  10. Jeff, I don't think there is a cure, but they certainly do soothe the spirit. A review from your livingroom will be fun. SSH
  11. For value, you can get 8 pr of Sovtecs for the cost of AVVTs; but if you've invested in a stellar amp (s) & want to get its' potential, the AVVTs are a great value, too. My used Sovteks had over a hundred hours on them, but probably not several hundred. SSH
  12. Well, I intended to say : Great post Colin & Dean. SSH
  13. Dean made some comments that I think are universal to Khorn users. I agree that soundstage, imaging, & other typical speaker considerations deminish at the sound of a well-cornered pair. It's not that descriminating descriptions can't be made, so much as it is, why talk when you can listen. Nothing is as important as what is at the time; what isn't isn't important while they are playing. Listening does become an emotionally attaching sensation. I also agree that listening position is less critical, even though it is obvious when I sit in the sweetest spot. They sound great all over the house (and yard, if you want them to). My sweet spot is only about nine feet from the plane of the horns. Great post, Dean. Ditto. SSH
  14. Chris, I was very_ impressed with Jeff's amps with Sovetecks, but the AVVT put them into the stellar range. Jeff was emphatic in his recommendation of JAC's AVVTs, & if there is a better 2A3 to couple with these amps, I want them. The Sov's are strictly backup, now. SSH
  15. Well, you certainly want the sound to pass by you when you are in the listening position, or you won't hear it. Get the RS7s and put them on stands, at or about ear level, and on a plane with the listeners (out from each end of the couch). Do not put them on the wall behind you. Your HT speakers should make you happy for many years, and probably in more than one home. SSH
  16. That's a great price. I just paid several $ more, & think it was a bargain. This is very good SACD. SSH
  17. That's very encouraging, Jeff; you know where the boxes are. SSH
  18. Jeff, Please tell me again that the Dionysus schematic is merely misplaced. I am hopeful that you will empty a box from moving & smile at it. SSH
  19. Dave, Are you going to post that acct? SSH
  20. Jeff, If m00n takes those women to JM's, it may be the perfect drink. SSH
  21. Chris, Really sorry to hear about the AVVT.I hope it mends well. SSH
  22. I should have said too bright with some Klipsch speakers, as I don't think it was a blanket statement that the A & B are exclusively too bright. SSH
  23. Kelly, In the Vintage Scott Equipment thread, Ryan expressed an opinion about the 299A & or B being too bright for his taste. With his vast experience with Scott gear, I have a great respect for his opinion, & believe he intends brightness to mean in relation to other Scott units, & perhaps other tube gear. He went on to say that many others agree with him. I wouldn't be surprised that others shared Ryan's opinion, but Craig took exception to the statement, & asked who these many people are. Craig then replied that he gets good feedback from his 299A & B customers. Guy then posted that Craig was probably not getting truthful feedback. So I think Craig is asking for feedback on the brightness of the A & B, & I don't think he really intended to get it just from his customers. Indeed, one poster wasn't a customer of his, & Craig was glad to get the response. There is some good info resulting from this, & if we keep it civil, there will be more. SSH
  24. Craig, I just want you to know that if I didn't like the sound of my 299A I'd tell you, & I'd still feel comfortable asking you into the house. The addition of Telefunkens made it sound more forward to me, & I like that sound with the forward sound of the Khorns & LaS. If I found fault with your build quality in the Bogen you rebuilt for me, you'd hear that, too. As a customer, I paid for the right to have you listen to my complaints. Just because I haven't complained, doesn't mean that I won't. It does mean that I haven't. You've gotten honest responses in our conversations about my 2A3 monoblocks and multi=channel Marantz, and I think your new amp looks sweet & its versatility is a big selling point. SSH
