JBP, 5 LaScalas & an RSW 15 will fill your space without concern for the open area you have. I have Kornerhorns up front, with a LaS center, LaS rears, RC7 rear centers & an RSW15. With a Marantz SR9200 receiver & DV 8300 combination player, I am very satisfied with my HT & multi-channel stereo setup. With a 10k budget, you could buy used (most of us have) LaS & have lots of budget left for a 2 channel tube amp to do justice to those LaScalas. SSH
  2. Smilin, A pr of Jeff Lessard's 2A3 amps that he built for himself. Craig, I fully expect to be doing the Christmas boogie just as I posted earlier. SET, PP, & multi-channel SS. There is no way that box will be intact two feet inside my door. I've been missin' that amp. SSH
  3. space_cowboy, My rear centers are on 60 lb.-rated Omnimounts. They make them for up to 250 lbs., but they are expensive. www.omnimount.com. They are great mounts that are capable of pointing the speaker where you want it. SSH
  4. Georg, Congratulations on your Scott purchase. My experience tells me you will be very happy. Your process was similar to many who are new to tubes. It is not an easy thing to leave to the words of others the sound of the music we will hear. Many here have benefited from the Scott/Craig combo. I listen to a splendid SET amp, but am anxious to get my 299A back in the next few days. Merry Christmas SSH
  5. Your TV can handle the weight. If you want to put it on the wall, look at an Omnimount. I have an RC7 with an Omnimount for sale on Audiogon. I'd prefer to sell to a forum member, but had little response here. SSH
  6. Well, I'd say it's not ideal, but since the center seems to be most important anyway, three LaScalas accross the front should work just fine. My Khorns are front, with a LaS center & rears, with RC7s for rear centers (until I get the other LaS squawking). SSH
  7. Congratulations, Dean. They'll sound fantastic in your room. SSH
  8. Great score, Dee. They are beautiful. They're heavy, too, aren't they. Have you run wire out the back door yet? I bet they'd sound great next door. Congratulations, SSH
  9. Dean, End all this discussion & buy a good used pr of Khorns. Then begin a new thread....or several. SSH
  10. No, you're room is not too small. Q-Man, are you getting speakers just for that room, or are you getting speakers that you will use in that room? Most Khorn users have had "better" & "worse" rooms, but the Khorns are a constant. I love my LaS, but they are not as inspiring as my Khorns. I listen to SET, PP, & SS almost daily in a room about 14' wide. Whether another width wall will be an improvement is no issue to me until I take the option of placing them at the corners of the long (19') wall. In either case, I have the option of placing Khorns there. If you think you'll die listening to music in that one room, & you're convinced that you don't have wall space for the Khorn, then get the LaS. SSH
  11. Welcome to the Forum. I can't answer #1. #2 is a little tricky, because I really don't know if you're a real "complete dope", or if you're just a little overwhelmed at looking at the whole process instead of looking at it just one step (connection) at a time. I'm going to assume that you have more time than money to invest in this project, & that you can follow instructions & ask questions when needed. Learning what you don't know will be fun, so go for it one step at a time. Place each piece where it will be in your system & measure the length of wire or interconnect needed (better to measure long than short-remember that some wire may drape to the floor) so you have the right pieces when you begin assembling. Be sure you have the right connections on each end. Take your manual & put it next to your equipment.Point to the connection in the manual, & then the one on your unit. Plug them up like the picture & then kick back with some music. Don't get frustrated if you have to figure something out more than once. All it takes is a little planning, some time, & patience. If you're not comfortable following these instructions, then pay someone to hook it up for you. SSH
  12. Vladi, Sorry about your knees. Have you had the surgery? If so, have you begun rehab? Best of luck. SSH
  13. Ken, Will you hear them Christmas? New Klipsch definately counts.
  14. I continue to be satisfied with the 8300. I will have it upgraded to include current new formats, but the sound is very pleasing with my Khorns & LaS. SSH
  15. Happy Holidays, Forum Family! As we spew-out our needs, opinions, help, questions, rants & raves, reviews, and guts, we all here connect in a most basic way. Some of our glue is the music we use to celebrate our holiday feelings. SO... What special plans do you have to use your Klipsch to celebrate Christmas? Me first, me first. The love of my life and I wrap presents with all the sappy, most adored seasonal songs we all know oozing with detail through my Khorns from my Jeff Lessard 2A3 monoblocks. After the ribbons are tied, we sing-dance with rock & roll via PP (Scott,if you get it back to me in time, Craig). Then it's multi-channel time: Crank 'em up & hang on to your Christmas balls-The best listening might be from the other side of the pool in the back yard. 'Tis the season. One of my reasons is my Klipsch. SSH

If there is space on top, you could point it downward. SSH

Dave, If you have wall space above your TV, you can mount the RC7 with an Omnimount (www.omnimount.com). I have this combo for sale on Audiogon now. SSH
  18. Benny Waters "Live at the Pawnshop", Opus 3 SACD with Waters playing soprano, tenor, & alto sax & clarinet, is one of the Best on my jazz list now. An exemplary recording. Very lively jazz. SSH
  19. mink70 Arrange a listen to the LaScala. If you prefer the Cornwall, you are in good company-many here do. I use LaScalas in conjunction with Khorns, but also enjoy the Cornwall sound. I think Paul is also saying to at least listen to the LaS, even if you have heard & liked the Cornwalls. SSH
  20. smilin, You will be when you start playing with them. SSH
  21. ric, Useful tool-No waste of time here. SSH
  22. Colin, DVD-Finding_Nemo_ SACD-(CD) Captain_Fantastic_ Last nights fare SSH
  23. I have some Monster M1000i interconnects with XLR connections. Can I leave one end XLR & just replace one connector? My pre will take the XLR, but my amp needs RCA. SSH
