  1. See this thread... I have both pics there showing the lower cover off: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/118155/1193283.aspx#1193283
  2. The bad cap problem is only on the GFA-565 & 585, & only during power-up. I did the repair myself on my 585 a few years ago & the amp has been perfect since. The total cost of replacing the 20 year old caps was under $10 & took about 1 hour. You can usually tell they are going bad when the amp makes a slight hum sound on power-up. As the caps get worse, the hum gets worse until DC is sent to the speakers. Luckily, I did not wait until then. EDIT: Refer back to this thread: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/119996/1209756.aspx#1209756
  3. Tom is right... At the time mine went bad, all of the searches I did said that all of them had the leaky cap problem. Now they say that it is only the 565-585. Just for added info, they were designed by Walt Yung and Victor Campos, & the 585 is simply a pair of 565 mono's in the same case, but sharing only one power supply.
  4. I own an Adcom 585 limited & love it with my Belle's, but I have heard many people say that the 585 has a much better sound then the lower models. Also, Adcom's 545-585 models have a bad problem with the power supply caps exploding after so many years & taking out the circuit board, which is a very expensive repair. I got lucky I found out about it before any damage was done, & replaced them with very little expense. If the caps have been replaced already, the amp should be good.
  5. I agree... I have been using it for years. Gets expensive here too!

  7. That may be true, but a split La Scala ain't too shabby either....
  8. I think I should be offended too! How could anyone not prefer the original Klipsch badge over the boring square industrial badge? [*-)]
  9. A few years back, I started a thread about the high school I work for getting it's theater upgraded to all Klipsch HERE In one of the posts, I mentioned that the badge on the KPT-250 was not to my liking, & that the copper badge on the KI-362's was much more impressive: So moving ahead to the present, we just ordered another pair of KPT-250's for the choir room. I had a big suprise when I pulled them out of the box to find that they now have the copper badge! Yes, I know I really dont have that kind of power, but for now, It made my day!
  10. Not only was I impressed with the sound, but also that it could be accessed with any computer in the house. I have seen a few of these servers that required an expensive media client in every room that you wanted music. If you already have a computer in the room, a good speaker set is all you need to add.
  11. I had to have that done about 15 years ago. The procedure did not hurt at all, until they rolled me back onto my back. They were rolling me using the sheet for support, when one of the nurses let her hand slip, & I suddenly rolled flat down. I think they heard me 3 floors up. I had to stay 3 extra days recovering from the drop.
  12. Same with the one in San Francisco.
  13. Spike TV now has a show called MANswers, & they just did a thing abou the most dangerous wild animal in America. When they interview wild animal trainer Randy Miller, there is a single Klipsh speaker behind him. The video is also on the website HERE
  14. Sold!! I posted it on craigslist for $250 & it sold with 2 hours.
  15. It is pointed down already. I was going to flip it, but the Klipsch badge is screwed & glued, so flipping it was not possible. Also, if I flipped it, the mid horn would be on top & I would not be able to angle it, since the shelf is on top.
  16. Honestly, I havent really decided yet. The sound is much better at being centered in the screen, but the tonal quality is not there. I am hoping that it is because of the old crossover. I will be ordering a rebuild kit from Bob soon. I was also going to cover the top the same way I did the bottom, but I got to like staring down the horn, so for now I will leave it like that.
  17. Since I have not heard from WSU, I have to say this single speaker is still up for sale... $200 +shipping, Here are the Pics
  18. WSU... Here are the Pics I said I would post....
