My daughter told me a good seal joke a few weeks ago, but I cant remember it. I guess I will just have to stick to the topic. My sub sits right in front of my 55 gal glass aquarium, & the water does ripple during certain movies. It has never had a problem. However, I have caught my Angel Fish lighting up a smoke as the movie ends.

That pic is taken from below... I bet these are in a church or something. What I cant figure out is the tweeter. It looks all white! Even the diaphram! Did they spray paint it?

Another one to look at is the Adcom series. I have been running the ACE-515 for about 12 years, & am very happy with it. I actually watched it save my equipment one day when we had a surge come through my area. We lost 2 TV's, a VCR, & 3 light bulbs one day when PG&E had a switch-over problem ( the house got REALLY bright for about 4 seconds). The ACE actually shut down, & everything connected to it was fine. http://www.adcom.com/surgesupressors.htm -

What about RG6 coax or Cat5 cable? ---------------- I do know that you will not want to run Cat5 in the same conduit. It will bleed over to the speaker wiring, & you will hear the computers talking. Really!

I ordered them new from Klipsch, & they had the wires already on them. If the woofers are the same, you may not need to worry about soldering. -

the back reads: Klipsch K-33E 67-8340 I am thinking $60, & shipping is no problem for me. Check around & see if this seems good. Also, check on the other driver. You may end up needing a pair, in which you will want a matching set. As Jim said, you may even want to have yours re-coned. -

Pic in the box it has been stored in. I used to use my old La Scalas for wedding receptions, dances, etc, many times. Often I had them over 100 watts for hours, & never a problem. Again, I have never used this driver, except to test it many years ago. I can move the cone now, & it makes no noise. I will hook it up after I upload the next pic. -

The K33-E driver is in a Phoenix Gold Subwoofer box. I have no idea where that box came from! I will get some pics for you... brb -

Yes, it worked perfect, however I will recheck it & take pics tomorrow. It was from a pair of parted out speakers of a friend. He was building something strange for his van, & only wanted the horns, so I talked him out of one just in case I needed it (I am running a 250wpc Adcom). However in 10 years, it is still in the box. I am willing to give it up real cheap. -

I have a spare K33-E that was pulled from a La Scala about 10 years ago. Dont know the age of it, but it has a black cage & square magnet. I was hanging on to it in case I ever needed it. If it is the same, I might be willing to give it up if you cant find one. It is the same as my 85' Belle's -

I need to look into these. They look like the same kind of setup we use on our mainframes, but they are REAL noisy. Maybe I will bring in my spl meter & check them for comparison. That page says they are only 30 db. I have never seen a quiet 120v fan! I just put my SPL meter right in front of my Tivo... 56db! prodj101: Point taken... Message edited. Sorry, but I have 3 Radio Shacks near me, & all 3 are the same. BTW... Check your spelling

Yes, Computer case fans can be found at any computer shop for about $6, or at Radio Shack for about $18, & the ac adapter can be found at Radio Shack for sure. I used the 12 volt adaptor off an old cordless phone that went bad. Just cut the wires off & connect them together as best you can. I recommend soldering. These fans are very low current, so don't let the salesman talk you into a oversized adapter. 300 ma is more than enough. http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F005%5F007%5F014%5F000&product%5Fid=273%2D243 http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F004%5F001%5F001%5F000&product%5Fid=273%2D1662 The second link is for an adjustable adapter ... if its too noisy, you can lower the voltage
-
If you have a small computer shop near by, you can pick up a small 3 or 4" fan & then find a 12 volt A/C adaptor to go with it. This works great, & most are usually quiet. I have to run one near my Tivo unit. Tivo's are noted for severe overheating. You can also find the fans and adaptors at any Radio Shack, but you will pay 3x the price.

So depending on whether your receiver or cd player has the better dac, that is the one that should sound better. I could be wrong though. ---------------- You are correct. As I said before, let your ears make the choice. My receiver has a much higher rated DAC than anything else I own, , but the specs do not seem to matter. The DAC in the Adcom (VERY highly rated in its day) has a much cleaner sound. I had also read in this forum that DVD players do not seem to have as good a sound as a good CD player for music. I verified this ONLY to the point that my $300 DVD did not sound as good as my $800 CD player. (Duhhh) Again... its all in the ears!
