I wish I had thought this all out and been a member of this forum before getting rid of the hand built khorns I had. The room they were in was too narrow and the listening distance too far away. Using false walls or turning the top end out would probably have solved the problem. Never to old to learn something.

Oh what the heck, really are you all serious? You bought NOS tubes at a price that can't be beat, guaranteed and you are pissed off. Try to reason it out. Have you ever cleaned and checked out a tube on a tester? No is the answer I'll bet. It would take more time than 5 dollars would buy. For craps sake it would be a money loser. What do you get paid for an hours work? Not just your hourly but with all of the benefits and all. If you are a construction worker probably about 45 dollars. White collare even more. I'm thinking 1/2 hour minimum to check and clean your tube. 25 dollars added to your 5 dollar tube. Get real. Sorry, can't bare to hear grown men cry. Whew, just kidding fellows.LOL Yeah, I wouldn't buy anything from Ned. Heck I bet he just bought a gallon of gas on all the money he ripped off you on that tube deal. SUCKA! By the way, Caig Deoxit would be good on the pins after cleaning. Anything you use to get the oxidation off will take off the markings on the tubes so be carefull. The green or white scuff pads will work without chemicals to get the scrungees off before the caig. Just kidding up above but maybe you should think about what you're saying before dogging someone.

I'm not positive but I believe that window screen would make a difference in what you would hear. If you want to try it go ahead, it'd be easy enough to remove.

The difference might cause hearing damage. Not knowing the speakers that were used to get this (standard) movie experience I'd ignore all of the pretty numbers and set the gain control to a comfortable level and enjoy. Happy listening. Hey Joe, Good luck on your rebuild. Have had a few bikes over the years myself but am currently without. 1952 EL, 196? Tiger, 196? Triumph 500, 1968 Bonneville,67 Bonneville,1974 BMW R-60, 1977 Sportster(biggest pc of poop owned)1971 Honda 750,various dirt bikes and my favorite a stock 1957 74,black and white full dresser. Sold it to feed my three kids back around 1977. Used a Counterpoint 7.0 tube preamp and a Hafler 220 solid state amp for years and both gave good service and sounded great to me. The solid state amp would be generally easier on upkeep compared to a tubed. Not always but it has been so for me. I don't mind the sometime aggravation of owning old gear but can easily see how one could be turned off by the problems that occur. It seems that the preamps stay together better, I believe because of less stress on the components. Enjoy,,Randy

Your popping may have done in the midrange driver. Hopefully not. Don't know the speakers you have. If they are in warranty you're in luck, if not open them up and see if the connections inside are in good shape. If they are I don't know anything else to check. Maybe someone else here can help. If not it is off to the dealer.

Bryan, what is a swifter. It doesn't have any chemicals in it that would eat vinyl does it? Does it knock out static? Just curious. Listen to vinyl now and again but don't have a system down to clean yet. Randy

I know this is simple but have you tried switching your speakers around to see if it follows your speaker or is in a component? Have you made sure your connections are tight,they can go bad. Let us know if you've tried these actions.

I know I could having mono blocks but have no idea on your stuff. There might be a problem with the 90's being more efficient and sounding better just because they are louder, I've heard it is a sales trick. Any body else here know. Just off the top of my head if you have a way to bias all the output tubes I don't see how it would hurt the amp. If you have a way to to balance out the output it would be kool to try. Randy
