Hi All, New to the forums here and wondering if I could get some advice. Just started putting together my home theater and purchasing speakers as I go. What does this group think I should upgrade or add first, not looking for top of the line, but decent mid-range set up for the basement. Floor plan is pretty open (about 20' x 28') with the theater contained one side. Ultimate goal is a 7.2.4 set up, however the receiver market is pretty rough, so I know ill be looking to replace that eventually. Below are the details of my current set up. AVR: Pioneer VSX-834 L&R: Klipsch R-820Fs Center: Klipsch RP-500C Side Surrounds: RP-600Ms Front Height: RP-500SAs Sub: R-100SW

I purchased R-41M bookshelf speakers last June and theyve been working as great channel speakers but recently stopped. They have a very loud crackling/static noise with audio being inaudible. Im not sure what to do, I changed the wires so i figure its not a connection issue, theyre connected through banana plugs to my Sony STR DH790 and not sure if what the issue is. I sent the reciever to Sony and they told me everything works fine on their end, but find it doubtful both speakers blew at the same time without any catalyst.. Any guidance?

My system is a Denon AVR 2600 7.2. I have Heresy 2s all the way around but I'm seeking advice on height speakers (I have two sets of excellent smaller speakers I'd like to use rather than buy a third!) For height speakers, I'm currently using a pair of Mirage OMD5 omnipolar speakers which don't sound bad but the timber isn't quite right. I also have a set of Klipsch R-51M bookshelf which are a much better match but aren't made for wall mounting. Is it possible to wall mount R-51Ms? Thank You!

Hello, I have been liking my new RP-280FA so far for movies. However, ended up installing celling speakers for Atmos height channels and now the upfiring drivers are collecting dust. Have a crazy idea to hookup the upfiring drivers to the main ones with a cable. Would this hurt the speakers or my amplifier physically or the create a negative listening experience by causing delayed sound on the top drivers? OR would it augment the stereo sound with a more 3D like effect? PS: I have a true 100W per channel amplifier.

Hello All, I need to replace an old speaker system (12yrs+) in a dedicated home theater. I am considering purchasing the speakers below, but I am on a budget and want to make sure I get it right. left/right front channels - RP-600M Bookshelf Speakers Center Channel - RP-504C Center Channel Side Surround - RP-500SA Rear Surround - RP-500SA or R-41SA Front Elevation - RP-500SA Subwoofer - SPL-150 Subwoofer Amp: Denon AVR-X4700H Here are my questions: 1. I like the RP-504C for the center channel, but feel it may over power the RP-600M. Is that a correct assumption or will they be okay? 2. Due to stadium seating, I need to mount the RP-504C center channel above the screen. This speaker is heavy! Can anyone recommend a get mounting bracket? 3. This will be my first Dolby Atmos setup. There is a space of about 4 feet between the screen wall with the l/c/r spears and the first row of chairs. Should I place the front elevation speakers above the l/r channels or move them closer to the MLP? 4. The rear surround speakers are on a back wall and just above the head of the listeners. Should I go with the R-41SAs or stay consistent with the RP-500SAs?

I have three pairs of RP-140SA speakers in my 7.1.2 set up and I am having trouble with the crossover setting for the RP-140SA. According to the spec sheet, the frequency response for the speaker, "conforms to Dolby Atmos Specification." Apparently this is some secret thing because I can't find it anywhere, at least for home theaters. My pre/pro does the auto-eq routine but like most, it varies and sometimes the RP-140SA crossovers are calculated at 40Hz (yeah right!) and sometimes they are 120Hz + or - 40Hz. I don't know why it's some secretive thing, but it would be nice to know what the bottom range is so I don't over-drive them. Does anyone know what the low end of the frequency response is? I'm sorry to sound like this, but I just find it frustrating that this basic number isn't published on Klipsch's or Dolby's site.

Hi folks, new member here. I have a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos system with Klipsch Reference speakers. Because I have a sloped ceiling, I have two height speakers mounted high on the wall where the TV is mounted. I would prefer to have ceiling speakers overhead but the sloped ceiling presents a challenge. I would think that pendant speakers would work, but Klipsch doesn’t make them. Has anyone resolved this issue? Are their compatible pendants out there? Are there pendant housings that will accept Klipsch ceiling speakers? Should I mount Klipsch speakers to the ceiling in a way that aim at the listening location? TIA, Emmett

Hey! Newbie here. First of all, thank you for letting me join this awesome community. So I'm building a house, and in my basement my wife let me build my own Cinema/Sports room. I started to check out all Home Theater setups and Klipsch kept showing up. I'm really new to this, so I don't really have any idea what speakers to choose. But here goes: I'm looking for a 3000/3500$ setup, Including sound and Receiver. The setup should be a 5.1.2 or 5.2.2 (Should i stay with 1 subwoofer, or get one more?) The room is in the basement, so it has nice acustics, but I will still add some sound proof padding around the room, to get the extra cinema feeling. It's 4 meters X 4,5 meters (13 feet x 15 feet more or less). The FRONT speakers will be floor standing tall ones, and the REAR ones will be Bookcase ones. The ATMOS speakers have they're connections ready in the ceiling. Could anyone help me with a good setup? I checked some examples of RP6000f Setups and R41SA's for the Atmos, is that enough or is something like a RP610 better? Should i go lower as i might not need that much? What about the Subwoofers, is the SPL100 enough or do I need 2, or would you go lower? I'll leave a deisng of how the room should go. Sorry about meter system vs feet system, I'm european!

Hey all, I have KLF 20 (Front) and KLF-C7 (Center), but no middle or rear for 7.1. Anyone know what the modern day equivalent to this series would be? Thanks Wob

I just bought some new R-41 -SA surrounds for my 5.1.4 and am a little confused about the angular build of them. With the wedge shape they must be placed flat against the rear wall or the side walls at the rear of the room. This means that the cone cannot be directed toward the back of your head or the sweet spot. They do not adhere to any of the Dolby specified placement guides. What would you do? Moto

If I had a pair of RR-41SA 's and a pair of RP-140SA's which should I use for ATMOS and which for SURROUNDS?

Bought this locally and tried to convince the wife to let me put these in our upstairs living room to make a real theater in the basement. She shot that down pretty quick. (1) R-5800-W II (used for center) - $399 MSRP (4) R-5650-W II (used for fronts and surrounds) - $349 MSRP Each (2) CDT-5800-C II (ATMOS) - $399 MSRP Each Total MSRP - $2539 The only thing i'm seeing missing is two of the machine screws. I'll try and fine some at a hardware store before I ship them. I also have all of the grills and hardware needed to mount. I may not have many posts here but I can get some references from very well known members if you want them. My Price - $750 shipped obo Feel free to shoot me a text. 816-728-9319 Thanks, Matt

10/5 EDIT: Update...these have "Officially" launched. Now available on Klipsch website Hey all- what's going on? Hope things are well with everyone. Just curious if Jay L... or Chad has info on a release date for the new RP-500SA. Looking to add to my (4) RP-140SA's. The new 5.25" RP-500SA look to be a good addition to the line-up.

Hello, I am looking for a 5.1.4 surround system. Currently investigating the in ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos. Can someone explain me the difference between the Professional and Reference Series (in ceiling)? I read that the latter has Controlled Dispersion Technology®. Which is better for Atmos? Should I go for the reference series? I do like the 'swiveling 100° round Tractrix® Horn'. On the other hand, I do like the square grill of the Professional series.. the reference series only has a round grill? Thanks in advance.

Hello all, My first post in the community. I recently purchased an Anthem MRX1120 receiver. The receiver powers 11 channels and 2 sub-woofers. This new receiver is upgrading my setup from a 5.2.2 to a 7.2.4 The receiver can supply 140Watts to fronts, center, surround and subs with an A/B type amplifier while the back channel and elevation is 60Watts supplied by a D type amplifier. I am currently researching what speaker to buy that would match my receiver the best. I am more precisely looking to purchase back channel speakers and Atmos elevated speakers; and it is a lot more complicated than I first thought. My current setup: RP-260F fronts RP-250C Center (but will be upgrading to RP-450C soon) RP-160M Surrounds R-110SW subs x 2 I contacted Anthem to ask if I could use RP-160M as my back speakers and they said it wouldn't be a problem as long as I do not change cross-over setting that ARC had set them. As far as Atmos is considered I was thinking of getting 2 pairs of RP-140SA that I would mount high on the wall. ( I don't believe in putting them on top of floor speakers and bouncing them off the ceiling theory myself.) What I have problem to reconcile is this: the RP-160M are 100Watts with 400Watts peak the RP-140SA are 50 watts at 200Watts peak I'm worried that I am going to ask too much of the little 60 watts amp on the receiver by putting the RP-160M as back. I have considered putting another pair of RP140SA as back mounted mid- wall. the thing is I really like having great sound. I love the current speaker I have but I never heard the RP-140SA yet - if my instinct is correct I have a feeling that they won't cut it for me just like my RP-250C is not cutting for me right now. I have never owned a 7.x.x home theater before so I don't know how much signal is sent to back channel yet. My guess is probably the same as elevation channel and reason why Anthem went with a smaller D type amp for the back and height channel. I also listen to music and having the ability to run all channels might tempt me at some point. I also have a girlfriend that loves to crank the system from time to time. I worry that she won't hear the clipping that might happen with the back and height. I could in just remove them from the equation while playing music by crating another listening configuration file just for music(I can create 4 different profiles total) So what do you guys and gals think? I want to stick with the RP series I just don't know what will work best? any suggestions? Cheers

I have a Synergy F-30 system in a 7.1 format (2 F-30, 1C-20, 4 S-20). This system is working great, excellent sound etc. However I am thinking of upgrading my HT system to Dolby Atmos. This would require adding 2 to four height speakers. To complicate matters, the room where my HT is has a very high cathedral ceiling. I do have one side wall where I can mount speakers at the ceiling/wall joint, however the side is completely open. Because of this I think I will have to go with ceiling mounted amiable speakers. I would like some recommendations

Hi, Got a question and not sure if this has been brought up/mentioned before in the forum. I'm looking to add in Height Channel speakers to my 5.1 system to get Atmos sound out of my audio. I cannot install in ceiling speakers as it would just be too big a task to take on and installing wall mounted speakers for Front Height would make more sense in my setup. I've been looking at a few options and I'm just not a fan of the whole Atmos enabled speakers with ceiling bounce... easiest of the options, but I just don't think it will work. I want to know if Surround Speakers would work well to disperse sound in a wide angle direction instead of just forward direction would work well since surrounds are bi-polar speakers.... Or use bookshelf speaker would do. My only concern with bookshelf speakers have a venting port in the back, if it would cause vibrations/distortions when playing any tracks/movies. Surround speakers don't have a rear venting port and therefore wouldn't have the same issue that bookshelf speakers have for possible vibration of air being pushed out the rear. Looking for some guidance in this area. Also, if someone can give recommendations on best speakers of use for front height use. I have the following in my system: R82 - Front L/R RC52 - Centre RS42 - Surround SW110 - Sub Denon AVR-X3300W Much appreciated to any input here. Just looking for that Atmos experience. Thanks

I just installed some professional Armstrong sound panels in my living/theater room. Also got a rug down. Need to get my surrounds straightened out, and then Dolby atmos speakers. Who’s upgrading what out there? Anyone have their finger on the pulse of what audio format is going to take over Dolby Atmos? Or Auro 3D? I’ve asked around about what is the best configuration to put your speakers in for both formats. Nobody has been able to give me an answer. I think I’m just going to go atmos and cross fingers that not everything goes auro 3d. Hope everyone is having a great long memorial weekend. Happy listening!

Last year, I purchased a 65" 4K HDR TV set, Samsung M8500 UHD BR player, Yamaha Aventage ATMOS receiver, and Quintet 5 speakers. I have a smallish 10x10 living room. Since the TV was hung just a foot under the ceiling, I added a speaker-mount bar, that attaches to the top set of the TV mount bolts (see generic photo below). I put the quintet center, and 2 quintet speakers, below the TV. I mounted the other 2 quintet speakers to the speaker-mount bar, either side of the TV, so they are about 2 feet below the ceiling. For the rear surrounds, I used a pair of bookshelf speakers I already had. Now, Fry's is selling the R-14S surrounds for $139. Should I place the R-14S in the rear, to replace my non-Klipsch bookshelf surrounds? Or should I put the 2 quintets in the rear surround position, and use the R-14S as the front height speakers? Will the R-14S overpower the quintets? I just want consistent sound, that won't make me go "there go the rears". The R25C center channel speaker is also on sale, for $124. Should I replace the quintet center with the R25C? Will it overpower/mismatch the other quintet speakers? If I replace the quintet center, is there anything I can do with it? The days of 6.1 surround sound are long behind us (I still have a Panasonic SA-HE200 receiver from the 6.1 days) I can't afford to replace all of the speakers just yet, so your advice would be much appreciated. Art the newbie

Hi all, So I am in the process of building a new home... there will be a roughly 18x20 family room (with 2 story ceiling) where I'd like to put a home theater. I want to build an Atmos setup with overhead speakers (and I understand the overheads don't have to be the best or most expensive), in probably a 7.2.4 or 7.1.4 configuration. The primary use (95%+) is for watching movies. I've been out of the speaker game for a long time but I've always liked the Klipsch speakers in the past. My wife doesn't want floor standing speakers as the TV will be over the fireplace and kind of an eyesore, so what I'm looking for is wall-mountable bookshelf speakers. I need a good center, front left/right, side surrounds and rear surrounds. The overhead speakers I was looking at the Polks RC80i since they are decent quality and inexpensive. For the rest of the speakers I'd like to stick to a ~$2000 budget. So thoughts? I have heard I need larger front speakers than rears/surrounds. I was thinking about in-wall speakers but I've heard they suck compared to bookshelf speakers. Again, they all need to be wall-mountable as well. Appreciate any help!

Hello all and thank you for your help. I am new to Klispch since I recently received a pair of RP-280's. First my setup. Front RP-280's with RP-140sa Atmos on each. Center RP 450c, Rear RP-250's and the subwoofer is a R-115sw. I am running 14 gauge wire to all. I was also given a NAD-765 receiver but it is not 4K (I was told by NAD they are working on an update, but it's still not done). I also have an Onkyo TX-RZ620 4K receiver. So my question, are either of these receivers powerful enough for the speakers above or should I look into bigger, better, stronger one? If so, which is your recommendation and why? Currently I am using the Onkyo running @ 4 ohms and when I crank the volume past 75-80, I get distortion which I heard can be damaging to speakers. True? Also, what wattage should I be looking for? I have not hooked up the NAD since it is not 4K but I suppose I can run all video directly to TV and then run audio back to the NAD. As a side note, the NAD does provide 140 watts per channel but no 4k or Atmos, the Onkyo is 110 but is 4K and has Atmos. I truly appreciate your recommendation and feedback.

I recently made some changes about my home theater setup. I am hoping to get some advise and suggestion if there is anything wrong with my setup. My home theater walk through link: My current setup: Living Room: R28F, R-25C, R-14M, RS-25, Sony -DH800, Epson 142X (1080p Projector to 120 in screen). Master Bedroom: RP-280F, RP-450C, RP-250S, Onkyo TX-NR656 (100w @ 8ohom), Samsung UN65MU8000 ( 65 in 4k) Guest/Kid Room: Pending (probably going with a RF series set) My current concern is: Should I keep 5.1 in master bedroom, or get a pair of RP-160M/RP-150M for 7.1, or get RP-140SA for ceiling bounce atmos, or get RP-5800 ceiling speaker for atmos? As for atmos ceiling speaker, Any ceiling speaker recommendation? Micca M-8C 8 ($40/each), Polk Audio RC80i ($130/pair), Klipsch PRO-180RPC (ebay $250/each ), Klipsch 5800-C II (eba $225/each) ? I have a 5.1 system now ( RP-450C, RP-280F, RP-250S)
