Jack Gvozdjak
Well I think I did it again and went overkill. I bought a 500watt RMS amp for a 150RMS rated speaker. Can I wire the F3 is series to increase resistance and lower the RMS of the amp? Will this have any impact on he sound qaulity or affect the long term use of any thing? Thank you! thefluffy
I would not recommend doing this unless your amp states that it will drive a 16 ohm load. I have never tried it. So, I can't say what the exact result would be. But, I would expect a decrease in quality. The amp will probably have some difficulty driving the speakers due to the large resistance. Someone else on here will have a more technical response for you.
wuzzzer
Do you not have a volume knob? [] Seriously, the F3s can handle 600 watts peak. You'll be fine using the amp without modifying anything.
tigerwoodKhorns
Large resistance is easier to drive. Just wire up the speakers as you normally would and don't turn it up that loud.
Jack Gvozdjak
Everything seems to be working ok. Nomally I never go past half volume so as long as I don't accidently bump the volume all is good! The amp states that it's peak power is 1500 watts [:|] Thanks again! germerikan
And... how do they sound with 500W???
Jack Gvozdjak
Pretty darn good. The bass is tighter. The mids and highs are very good too. I only have my ipod plugged into each amp. One rca for the left and the other for the right. I'd like to see how it sounds once I have some sort of preprocessor etc, but for right now I have no complaints
germerikan
Cool, Im using the Yammaha RX-V1800 with 130 w to power my system (F3, C3, S3 and Sub-12) and I´m also very happy but was wondering how it would sound with a little more power on the 2 mains. Thanks for the info!

Ya, what he said................ No need for modding. Just crank it up and enjoy!!!
