justmusic
I now have the Collection on Ebay as Billbob Suggested..In Auction.. Opening the bid with $475.00 .. I just got an email from Laurie Pepper authenticating the Notes and Signatures. She was kind enough to reply immediately as she remembers fondly the person who Art wrote his messages to on the Albums. She let me know there are 3 New Art Pepper releases coming out . Here is a copy of what she wrote.. .." ..Announcing 3 (three) free tracks, available to listen to and/or download and keep. These are tracks planned for the next Art Pepper release from Widow's Taste (3-disc set due out in May). They're MP3 tracks, of medium audio quality, and none has yet been given the final mastering treatment by Wayne Peet, but I wanted to spread the largesse before the end of the first month of this beautiful brand-new year. Enjoy. -- Laurie.." This is an informative board.. I thought i would add what i could to it..

fini
Auction link. justmusic, May I offer a few suggestions? As a new, first-time eBay seller (with no history of positive transactions), I think it's going to be very difficult to get someone to pony up even the starting bid. Plus, for something like this, many, many detailed photos are needed. Include shots of the signatures and salutations, and also the authentication letters. I know you offer to send more photos to anyone requesting them, but IMHO, you need then in the auction. Good, professional quality, high resolution pictures. If I were you, I'd have a much lower starting bid, and have a reserve price. Check eBay tutorials on how to do this. As far as shipping, offer priority mail, not parcel post, and pack in a secure, professional manner. You can research here how to properly ship an LP. You may also consider one of the help-you-sell places found all over the country. The do take a commission, but they also offer (hopefully) the services I describe above, and (this is important ) an existing eBay presence, and (again hopefully) an excellent rating from buyers (look for 99%+). Look around your area and research these places. Some are way better than others. The collection is worth it. These ain't no Shawn Cassidy records... justmusic
.." I suppose you could argue that your beat to death copy is worth $400 based on the highest price" ...Alan.. Yup, I Will do just that!! ..LOL!!! What i don't appreciate is getting emails from this forum taking advantage of my relatively New experience here to send me emails telling me with such Profound knowledgable experience that my Albums on Ebay should have a Much lower Asking price on the Bid!....'FILM' was the only contact name i could see, as i Know no one here but BillyBob..Who was quite turst worthy in his representation of himself, that i know of, and respect. Who ever sent me the email from this forum to drop my price, was DISHONORABLE! I think you should all be a bit more discrete, and when a new person comes on board, be less critical, amd more supportive. Otherwise, this board will lose what integrity it might strive towards. The Bid is Now At $475.00.. And Going up!!! Less than 4 days for you to decide... JustMusic!
fenderbender
Mighty strong words from a new member with only 5 posts!!! Dude you may want to cool it around here a little....I was not privy to your private email, but from the quote in your last post I can infer who it may have been from....and he is VERY knowledgeable and honorable.... Take peoples advice at face value and make your own choices.....it's just advice....heck I hope you get $1000 bucks for the LP, but karma is a cruel mistress, lot's of non-payments on ebay, chargebacks to paypal if the album isn't 100% as stated, shipping scams, etc. best of luck to you...[^o)]
justmusic
'Fender..' Thank you for our best wishes.. I send them right back to you in all your endeavors.. Inregards to yo thinking i might have been pushing the envelope so to speak as a new member of the forum.. Nope!.. Simply that, No I didn't. Why? here's the e mail i got.. justmusic
Fini... I am going to tell ya something.. It;s a bit confusint on how to get and see replies to a newcomer.. but Why would I trust YOU anyway?.. I don't know you at All! At least I have a connection with BillyBob.. but no, you really did appear to try and get my price down.. with not one word of the Entire Collection being of more value than a simple Album or two or four.. Not one word . You and Alan.. both sya nice things.. but your intentions are suspicious..!.. What i have is a lot more than some collectors Vinyls.. I have HISTORY here Peeps!! And I think you know it. And I think that is why you all are ging after me.. because you are going after the Cheapest way to get my collection! Trust?.. Why should i trust you.. just as Why should you trust me?.. OOPS!..WAit.. I have Actual Octures..And.. Actual Authentications!!... I have given my Email address, AND willing to talk in person to amyone wishing to ask me about it. AND, Will Send more pictures to those that ask. so, I think the Trust Issuesare in YOUR court now! I Guess When trying to be respectful to some of you.. It's always about MONEY, and oTHAT's more important than Honesty????.. Not in MY life it isn't! garymd
Nobody here wants your collection. I can assure you of that. We here at the Klipsch Forum like to PLAY records. We, for the most part are not collectors. If you get bids (and it looks like you got one) it will be someone on the other side of the world who likes to LOOK at records and brag to his friends. fenderbender
I don't know justmusic......to me it seems like you got some pretty solid advice from every one here. But, when I got "Your beat Up records" comments, "Good Luck with That! And, the Jazz Museum Buying your Collection?" ( Titter giggles from the boys).. attitudes .. Then amd advised to Lower my price on Ebay.. Yet, you say you only 'Play Music', you mostly don't Sell it'. Well.. Dowsn't sound like it to me.. ( Pardon the Pun).. And then I get THIS?.. fini
OK, let me try to explain a few things. 1. You are not being attacked here. People have been trying to help you. 2. There are several different people replying to you. We are all different. You keep refering to some "you" like we're conspiring, or something. I assure you, we are not. 3. I, myself (known here as fini) am responsible for my post. In it, I made suggestions, based on years of successful eBay buying and selling, for how you could in fact maximize your selling price. I was not suggesting you sell it for less. I suggested you start the auction lower, to maximize interest. I also suggested you set a reserve price, which is the minimum acceptable price you would accept. More interest usually means higher selling price. Good for you, you got someone to bid your high starting price. 4. More, and better, photos will help you maximize the selling price. 5. I am not interested in buying your albums, at any price. BLSamuel
You think you can't trust me? I've only been around here maybe a year and a half but I trust you Fini. Kicking myself I never bothered to stop in and check it out earlier or maybe I hadn't really made it to the Forum earlier? It is kind of hard to see on the main web page.... Now if I had one of those Thorny turntables or whatever they're called that you really like, I might for just a fleeting second be suspicious of your valuation or an offer to buy it .... but you'd probably be the first person I'd think to ask is this any good or worrth fixing? . So from all this... we should be on the lookat for rare Art Pepper albums? Heck. I'd probably open and play a mint copy of any music I acquire before I'd think about checking to see if someone thought it was rare and worth a boatload of money. I think most here buy music to listen to. This is after all the Klipsch forum not the vintage Jazz artist record collectors forum. I've heard of Art Pepper and thought he'd be worth listening to but not sure I've heard any of his works. Probably won't anytime soon if it starts at $400 a pop. Man, the pile of new tunes I could buy for $400.
Arky
May I offer a few suggestions? Starts off like a pretty benign post to me.The collection is worth it. These ain't no Shawn Cassidy records.Ends that way too.
