tommyboy
Is it just my system, or did you have the same.......... issue? I usually have my surrounds at 0.5 db's, but had to turn them up to 2.5 listening in DTS. (standard DVD) I thought this was quite odd seeing as I've never had to turn them up during a DTS playback...................
toddvj
By surrounds, you mean your rear speakers? If so, what would have happened if you didn't turn them up?
colterphoto1
I just watched it this evening and it was tremendous. Especially the 'jet fighter' scene (don't want to give anything away) scared the fertilizer out of me. I never touch anything on my system any more except maybe to bring the center up or down for music videos. This one was great straight out of the box. I didn't notice DTS soundtrack on the menu so will put it back in and check that out. M

carbon summit
I'm looking forward to this movie. I usually just rent DVDs but I might get the Blu ray for this one.
colterphoto1
The camera cuts on the opening scene and first few action scenes was dizzying. I could have stood still for a second or two on some of the angles- geesh, more is not more sometimes. The pace is over the top. One of the most tragically weak Bond plots I've ever witnessed though. Shame all that technology and the writing is so so. Check out the video of the title track with Jack White and Alicia Keys- very cool. DU73
I have never been a Bond fan but this one for whatever reason has got my attention. I might have to rent it tonight
tommyboy
I just couldn't really hear the surrounds.............. until I turned them up
sunburnwilly
That was one rockin' Bond flick ! I enjoyed it far more than Casino Royal . Fast paced , lots of LFE and the blu ray presentation looked great . I will say that at 101 minutes this has to be the shortest Bond film ever by a long shot . Also , don't bother sticking around the end credits to see the working title of the next Bond film . All you will see is that Bond will return . Don't recall that ever happening before . sunburnwilly
I just rented the disc and has to back tonight. Man , who are you renting from ? I picked up the blu ray from Blockbuster yesterday and I have 9 days before they charge me more than the rental fee .
colterphoto1
local spot- new releases are one day rentals, but you get a new and old for $3 total, good for guys on a budget.
sunburnwilly
2 for $3 is a good deal ! One day is a bit too much commitment for me though .
colterphoto1
I get 5 days on the oldie so it works out ok unless they have a bagillion features ( I have to watch every second you know) I used the Sound/Options/Mute menu on the Yamaha to mute the LCRsub channels, just listening to surrounds, and it appears the the surrounds are a bit lower in the DTS. WOuld have to confirm with my RS meter. But DTS has such dynamics- wow. Again, the camera cuts are too fast for me, I feel like it's disjointed, that I don't know where I am in the scene. But it's fast action thats for sure. That fight scene on the scaffolding is a masterpiece of rigging and stunts- fabulous and inventive. tommyboy
Well, we just watched Bolt on DVD in DD sound, and with the surrounds at their regular 0.5 db level, it sounded GREAT! Maybe it was just the Bond flick. I'm just thrown for a loop because like I said, I've never had to raise the surround level for DTS before........... Islander
Again, the camera cuts are too fast for me, I feel like it's disjointed, that I don't know where I am in the scene. But it's fast action thats for sure. You're right about that. Being inside the car while it was spinning was just confusing and made me wish they'd pulled the camera way back so you could actually see what was going on. The plot was pretty weak, too. Besides, he never came walking over a hill holding an assault rifle like in all the promo, did he? Advertising featuring something that's not in the movie always bugs me.The next Bond movie will have to be really good to overcome the hit in credibility the franchise took with this one, in my opinion anyway. I just bought Bolt and Quantum Of Solace tongiht. I rarely buy movies unless I think that I'll watch them again. Kids movies I never rent since I know my son will watch them again!! Can't wait to watch it. I bought the DVD for $16 at BB. At some point I have to change gears to Blu ray but it just doesn't seem worth the extra $10 to me. I'll probably look back in a few years and think I was dumb... not the first time!!! Tommyboy, is that a pic of you on your avatar?
