colterphoto1
wow, that's weird, should probably have been K42 of some type, perhaps the EVM12L version. perhaps they were custom made? I'll have to check my spec books. what's the network look like? should be a modified AA
colterphoto1
CAREFUL on that aluminum trim, it's anodized and the hard layer is not very thick. Suggest maybe using scotchbrite and not much else on them a lot of that bar smell is probably in the woofer, take it out and give it the Bob Crites sniff test. if the wood is lacquered, could you use something like Murphey's oil soap? whatever you do, test an inconspicuous area first. colterphoto1
kinda shocked myself when i opened them up. everything is standard heresy with type E network most of the smell is in the woofers. i have them completely stripped you might try my SEM paint trick on the woofers. Vinyl top spray, it's very thin and light. Two light coats totally seals the woofer and recolors it dark satin black. That should seal the smell out without compromising performance. colterphoto1
the orientation of the Klipsch logo badges (btw I have exactly this style for sale NOS) and lack of bootprints tells us that these were probably never utilized as stage monitors. Perhaps special made for some recording studio or Klipsch nut. Heck, these prove that you could order ANYTHING back then and Klipsch would custom hand-whittle it for you.
