I wish I knew what I was starting. I have a feeling I am in for it considering I just got my RT-10d sub today. I need a center channel in the worst way. I am also in need of two other speakers to complete my 5.1 setup in my basement. I use it for movie watching but mainly music. I need suggestions for a center and my rears. Otherwise you are wasting your money - you are better off running your receiver/processor in phantom (blending the center channel signal into the two main channels) and waiting until you can get the properly matched speaker. Hoenig Posted December 4, 2009 Author Share Posted December 4, 2009 I am ignorant when it comes to this stuff so please be patient with me. I hardly watch any movies and I play my music loud. Right now I have the center channel in Phantom mode and it sounds great. My Forte II's are very loud and my RT-10d will shake everything in the basement. How bad are we talking by not matching? Your system sounds good as is, and the Phantom is the exact way to handle your situation. Don't screw up a good thing by cluttering the system with a mismatched center. I mean if you have a good set of stereo speakers they should place the dialogue and center channel information cleanly in the middle. right? Okay if you must have a center, I know my solution would be to purchase A Heresy to put in the middle to match. Heresys are common and easy to find on the classifieds. Hoenig Posted December 4, 2009 Author Share Posted December 4, 2009 My thoughts are this: My Forte II's and my sub is definately loud enough. I basically have my setup in stereo because I turned the center channel "off" and I turned off my surrounds as well. Therefore all sound is coming out of the Forte's and bass out of the RT-10d. I have the Forte's bi-amped from my receiver. Let me know if you think there is something I could be doing different or if you all have any other suggestions. Thanks! Know this, you have a multi channel amp and at some point your gonna get the itch to add more speakers since you got the channels. The first thrill is getting you first pair of high performance speaker, and I see you have some disposable income to spend on a RT-10d. If I was a betting man, I 'd wager a center and surround are coming.. so I will fill you mind with my recommendations Get 3 more fortes Get 2 more fortes and 1 Heresy Get 3 Heresys Get Academy and 3 Heresys Get Academy and any pre 1997 Tower But for 2 Channel w/ a Sub, you got it right man. -Bill Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think I will wait on an academy down the road, not now. Rears (additional Forte's or Heresey) are probably in my future but not now. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my $200 investment for my pair of Forte II's and my $310 investment for my sub. Since this whole thing came together so fast and it almost seems too good to be true. I may wait to do it right when I have the time and money. When I paid the guy $200 for these Klipsch Forte II's, neither the seller or I knew what the speaker was capable of. Keep Hunting, I find forte II for sale all the time. I am constantly searching, or at least my news reader is constantly searching for Klipsch Speakers. The Academy pops up every now and then.. Hoenig Posted December 10, 2009 Author Share Posted December 10, 2009 I found the RT-10D on Ebay with a "Make an offer" option and negotiated my way down to $310. That was with FREE SHIPPING!! I feel like I stole my Forte II's for $200 and my sub was a steal as well. I have my Pioneer VSX 90 in BI-AMP mode and ran the wires from my back 2 speakers and twisted them into the wire ran to the forte's giving them more watts to each speaker.
