Olorin
Yep, that was unfortunate. But, that's what, three games out of four played where we gave up an early goal and had to play from behind? You can only pull that rabbit from the hat so many times, and our boys tried it more than one time too many. Still, I'm proud of them, and happy that they took us as far as they did. Congratulations to Ghana are in order -- they played well and earned the win.

Groomlakearea51
We got much further than any of the FIFA folks thought. Including surviving patently anti-US ref calls, and dishing out some well deserved "embarassment" to one team from a country that is well known for it's arrogant disdain of us "uppity colonials" LOL!! It's going to take time for the USA team to become a real threat in the FIFA. We simply spend so much more time and money on NFL football. Nothing wrong with that, but it's a culture that dominates our country's sports fans' following to the detriment of soccer. Just about every middle school, high school, and college have a football team. It drives parents' support to the schools, drives the funding by alumni in the case of colleges, and soccer just cannot compete against the "true American" sports when it comes to popularity. I gave some thought to a "what if" scenario where the collegiate and league level soccer teams had the money to recruit some of the football players that would be emminently suited to soccer.... Like some of the super fast and supremely agile players that can dominate the field. In a few years, with good training and support, we could dominate the FIFA World Cup. Hands down, no doubt in my mind. We could put together a "dream team" that would put the "fear" into the pecking order.... Unfortunately, not gonna' happen though. Really good athletes will go where the money calls. And right now (and the foreseeable future), soccer will remain as an interesting sidelight to the sports scene. seti
If team USA could have played the entire game like they did those last 20 minutes we would have cleaned house. Our team is young perhaps the next world cup. Ghanna's second goal was amazing. It was well deserved and not an easy shot.
