G'day All, My name is Graeme and live in rural Australia. I am a newbie to the site and need a little advice. I am using RF83 fronts, RC64 centre, RT12D sub and KSP S6's for the surrounds in a 7.1 setup. These are being fed by a Denon 2808 surround reciever with a claimed 110w per channel @ 8ohms, although I presume that is not with all channels being driven. I have a 55" Samsung 3D LED TV covering the visual side of things. This setup is in a 25' long * 20' wide room that goes from 8' in height at the front to 9.5' at the rear with a normal sized entry door on the left hand wall at the rear of the room. The room is carpeted with just run of the mill painted gyprock walls and ceiling. The room is bare except for a lounge in the middle and My entertainment system. Now for My question - I have the opportunity to purchase some seperate amps, 5 * Marantz Ma-700 monoblocks which claim 200w each @8ohms and am wondering whether anyone had any thoughts on that idea. I thought I may be able to run My fronts, centre, and front surrounds with them via the pre-outs on the 2808, leaving only the rear surrounds being run by the 2808 amp. I am definately no Audiophile so the idea may sound dumb to many of You, but thats why I am asking for help I suppose. I have visited the Klipsch site on many occasions and find that there are some very clever people out there and hope that You can give Me some much needed advice. Many thanks.

Crock,

Welcome to the forum.

I think adding the MA-700's is a great idea. I bought (5) MA-700's back in January. They had no problem driving any speakers(RF-63's, RC-64, Forte's, Quartet's) I threw at them. I regrettably had to sell them because they were too long for my TV stand. I since have replaced that stand with a deeper one and kick myself everytime I hear the Marantz MA-700 monoblocks mentioned.

The MA-700's are very reliable, cool running, and produce plenty of punch and detail from bottom to top. One thing I would like to caution you about is the RCA imputs. They are not the best quality so try not to use really tight-fitting RCA cables and be gentle when connecting and removing. I think also that the MA-700's will match very well with the preamp section of your Denon 2808.
