tom518ny
Planning to move my LaScalas to another room and will need longer wire. I've been using Speltz Anti-Cable, and I love it...but...is there something just as good but cheaper out there? Monoprice oxygen-free maybe? In the past, I've used lamp cord, Home Depot, WalMart extension (not bad), solid core silver (too bright), etc. I would love some recommendations! Thanks! Davecv41
Since Speltz conveniently prices their wire at $10/ft per pair, which works out to $5 per foot they make it easy to compare prices. Roger Russel has a table on his site that lists maximum length per wire size. http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm
tube fanatic
At risk of starting the usual firestorm, for runs up to around 20 feet, #16 lamp cord is all you need. For longer runs, get some #12 (the stuff often used for low voltage lighting). You can also just buy a couple of spools of wire and make your own twisted pair speaker cables............... BigCliff
Monoprice is best bang for the buck.

tom518ny
Loved the Rodriguez cartoons in the old Stereo Review---thanks for sharing that one!
russ69
From another thread: AudioQuest Type 2, it's 3 bucks a foot or as the guys here call it, wildly expensive snake oil cable, lol! Not too long a run I hope.
tom518ny
I figure I will need around 20 ft.
JBryan
Snake oil or not, you'll never get a unbiased answer BUT if you're asking... you might be willing to try the DIY route. The Ward's Yardmaster cords are CHEAP - especially when they're on sale at Walmart and they are well regarded in several audio forums. Read the review from 6moons.com... http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/whitelightning/moonshine.html Speaker cables can be made easily if you just want bare leads and you're in luck - the cords are sold in 40' lengths. Have fun
InVeNtOr
there's a trick to buying Anti-Cables wire. don't buy it as a speaker cable. buy it as bulk cable. if you do, it's $1.25 ft. so in terms of turning that into a cable, it's $2.50ft. half the cost. it's right on his web site. i even spoke to him about it. he said 90% of his buyiers buys it as speaker cable. go paul! monoprice is good. it's 4N copper. you have to get the CL rated one (white jacket). i use it. you have to take the white jacket off and possibly retwist the wires. i did that and added some teflon tape to keep the twists tight. it's not as good as anti-cables (guessing) but for anyone in HT i doubt they would hear a difference. with you having Lascalas, you might. to point out, Anti-Cables wire is 6N. I used KnuKonceptz (www.knukonceptz.com) 16-gauge Karma SS speaker cable to rewire my Belles, and also DIYed pairs of 12-gauge Karma SS to use as my main speaker cable. Nice cable, easy to work with, and very reasonably priced. Its as good as, or better than, most cable I've ever used in the past.
tom518ny
I will call them today and order their cable, based on your recommendation. If its at least as good as Anti-Cable, but easier to work with, I'll be happy! Many thanks to you and all the others!
