t-man
Was the original Grill cloth dark brown or black? Perhaps I have dirty (once black) grills that look a bit brown..... Were the same grill cloths used on the Quartets/Forte/Chorus?
SilverSport
like with many Klipsch speakers of that era, you had a choice...they could have a brown, olive green color (I have these on kg2s and Quartets) Bill
t-man
so if I'm perceiving a really dark chocolate brown, is that supposed to be black? Or Chocolate from the factory.
Adoremusic
Really? I've never seen any other colour than black for the grills. Got any pics?
tom b. 57
I have owned several pair of KG4's and have had black and I guess what you would call olive green (ugly in my opinion). Have not come across any with brown grills as of yet. Tom
Adoremusic
Wow, those are pretty tacky colours, more reminiscent of the 70's not the 80's. Probably pretty rare too.
t-man
Yep, I washed them really good, and they are definitely NOT black. I would say they are olive/brownish as described by an earlier poster. The cabinets are Walnut Oil. Notice black grils in the background on the Quartets and KV3.
Adoremusic
Are you sure they're not just faded? If they've been in the sun alot they won't look black anymore.

Those look exactly right for the olive green. They don't look quite as bad as I remember. Tom
t-man
If they were faded, wouldn't the wrap around area on the back of the grill be different/black? On mine, they look just like the fronts, but would have been totally protected from the sun. No?

t-man
Yea, I'm going to sell these, but am considering dying the fabric black....I suppose I shouldn't though - perhaps somebody really wants these grills original like this. Hard to know.
billybob
Mine are walnut and look like your photo...milk chocolate brown like grill cloth and pleasant to look at...with a black and brown weave...nice effect. Speaker voyuer since Klipsch came into my life...no jealousy detected yet since KG's arrived. Hoping other speakers will chime in, and maybe talking behind my back will cease...
