jordan122345
There is a guy locally that is selling a set of used Klipsch RF-82's and a used Klipsch RW-12d sub. What would a reasonable price for these. Also are there 2 models of the 82's or just the current ones. Thanks Ron
cornfedksboy
There are two models. The 82s are worth $350-500. The sub is worth $250-400. I wouldn't spend more than $750 as the sub has been on sale for $350 multiple times recently.
jordan122345
I thought there were 2 models of the RF82's but the seller said he had just bought them 6 months ago. And the sub is on amazon right now brand new for $403.They are pretty much brand new though. So no more than $750-$800 ya think. Also I am going from KLF10's and a KSW15, is this an upgrade or no
jordan122345
The problem is the guy is asking $950 for the towers and $450 for the sub.Which is rediculus of course.Do the RF82 ii say the ii behind the 82 or no
Fish
I just sold a new spotless pair of 82ll's for $600 + $100 shipping. The rw12 would be 350 so 950 for the set would not be too bad if like new.
jordan122345
thats a good price on the 82's. I wonder what i should offer on the RW-12D with it being brand new for $400 on amazon right now.So $600 for the new 82's,then that should be $400 max for the older 82's right. Thanks
CHASLS2
I got a pair of mint 82's not the 82ll's and set of new in the box never used RS42's for around $600 not long ago.
jordan122345
wow so I wonder if I should just offer him $700 for the the RW-12d and the rf82's.And if he doesnt like I can wait and hopefully find a better deal.I still am wondering if it is even an upgrade from my current KLF10's and KSW 15. jordan122345
I just checked new egg and they have the rw-12d on sale for $350 plus free shipping.Damn great deals right now
Fish
$700 would be a good deal if it's 1st generation 82 and sub in good shape.
jordan122345
so if its the first genereation 82's you say $750.But what if it is the new 82's then what should I offer.
Fish
$700 to 750 on Gen 1, I think 900 or so, depending would be decent for Gen 2. Keep in mind often people don't know what their speakers are really worth, if they paid too much to begin they have a different view than informed buyers. jordan122345
that is very true. The guy said he had paid 1250 for the rf82's and 700 for the sub.So I just found a set of RF7's first gen in great shape except one of the cones on one of the speakers has a dent in it.Will this affect anything other than looks and what kinda value we looking at here
Moderators Youthman Posted November 20, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 20, 2011 You can typically find RF-7's for around $800 but sometimes even cheaper. It all depends on how desperate the seller is.
jordan122345
so would the RF7's be a better way to go or should I just stick with the RF82's
Moderators Youthman Posted November 20, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 20, 2011 The RF-7's trump the RF-82's. How much is he asking for the RF-7's? The dimple in the woofer isn't a concern. Merely cosmetic.
jordan122345
I think he said he would take $800 for them. The guy with the rf82's and the rw-12d got mad at me when I offered him $750 and I appologized and told him that I was merely offering him what they were worth. Is the RW-12d a decent sub.I am thinking about ordering one since new egg has them for $350 shipped. jordan122345
I might actually buy 2 of those subs and get he RF7's from the guy and then start working on my center and surrounds. If the usb is decent that is
Moderators Youthman Posted November 20, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 20, 2011 I think he said he would take $800 for them. $800 is a fair price but you can always see if he will take less. The guy with the rf82's and the rw-12d got mad at me when I offered him $750 and I appologized and told him that I was merely offering him what they were worth Although that is nice of you, there is no need in apologizing. Many people who sell electronics try to get premium pricing when they just aren't worth it. Used gear typically sells for 30% - 50% of retail, even if they are in excellent condition. Also, it's still a buyer's market. I can tell you from experience that used gear isn't selling near as fast as it was several years ago (asis almost everything else these days). That's just simple economics. If you want a great deal, you just have to be willing to wait and be patient until the right deal comes along, have some cash on hand and be constantly looking at Craigslist. Most of my system in my signature has been built around that principle. I just looked yesterday at my spreadsheet where I keep track of retail pricing vs what I paid for each item and I saved an overall of 74.5% on my gear. Is the RW-12d a decent sub.I am thinking about ordering one since new egg has them for $350 shipped. I've heard the RW-12d and it's ok. Personally, I think you can find a much better sub for close or even cheaper than that price. For example, Fastlane's Velodyne SPL12BV. It has a 1000 watt rms / 2000 watt peak amp. My first Velodyne HGS15 in my signature I picked up for $200. It's a 15" sub with a 1250 watt RMS / 3000 peak amp. Those types of deals are super rare and few and far between but they are out there. A lot of guys here like Epik, SVS, Velodyne & HSU.
Moderators Youthman Posted November 20, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 20, 2011 Check out something like www.searchtempest.com. Great way to search multiple craigslist areas from your zip code.
