XxCowboyxX
I have been curious about changing my system to vintage. If I were to grab a pair of Khorns, what series do I get or crossover etc. I'm looking at a pair that's from 1975. I'm not against doing a crossover change or a sub upgrade etc if needed
Guest " "
A 1975 version would have a good foundation of components. And the AA xover it has is very simple to recondition using available kits sold on ebay.
XxCowboyxX
Do y'all think the sound quality would be night and day better than my 7's?
tromprof
In the right room, yes. I'm sure you have read how important having good corners and spacing is to k-horn sound, but if the room is right they are pretty much unbeatable. Chris A
Do y'all think the sound quality would be night and day better than my 7's?Yes, most definitely. See http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/154887.aspx for a discussion on corner-horn room acoustics, imaging, amplifiers, and other factors to consider. Groomlakearea51
Crossover capacitor replacement would be the first thing to do. Check with BEC on the Forum. He can do them, or provide the caps for you. I recommend that you listen to them for awhile before doing anything to get a feel for placement, imaging, etc. Then do the caps, etc.
twistedcrankcammer
Do y'all think the sound quality would be night and day better than my 7's? Speakers make the biggest differance for the dollar, bar none, more than a tube amp or anything else. Having owned both simotainiously I can state emphaticaly that in the same room of propper accoustics it won't even be close. Roger
