I have owned my Cornwall II's for 32 years, and I am still amazed at the gorgeous sound they provide for my enjoyment. I have added a Klipsch sub, center channel and surrounds to compliment my audio/video system. I am very interested in this CD. Where can this CD be purchased? Thank You.

That article made a really interesting point....the sound we get to experience on the cd transfer was totally capable of being experienced back in the 50's. The idea just totally blows my mind when I think about the "high fidelity" of that era. PWK was way ahead of his time.

Can someone explain the sonic differences in the physical media available for this recording? Wide range of prices, from $8-36.50.

The HQCD (High Quality CD) format achieves high quality audio through the use of a polycarbonate
plastic with improved transparency derived from LCD display
manufacturing technologies enabling more accurate reading of the CD
data. In addition, a special alloy is used as the material of the
reflective layer instead of the standard aluminum. These are similar the the "SHM" CD and SACD, which in my experience sound better (if the original master is capable of providing better sound quality in the first place). I'm not absolutely sure, but I think much of the "better" sound quality may come from the disc material not triggering as much error correction in the playback process. I have a demo SHM SACD of the same tracks on a companion "regular" CD and a few of the original CD to compare it to and to me the SHM disc wins, but only if the program material "allows" it.

The DVD audio is in 24 bit/96KHz resolution.

I'm pretty sure the "budget" versions are supplied in cardboard sleeves instead of a jewel case without all the pretty graphics and documentation.
