lucky5115
inside cabinet~. kinda unusal I think, but all drivers ohm out Exactly the same with each other.. K77M's - 6.4 K51V's -10.5 1526C - 3.6 woohoo. [8-)] I'm still undecided on xover setup.Still thinking B2 which is a simple and most effective design IMO; using 3.3uf caps I already bought to drop down the mid freq to 575. Also looking to eventually make custom grille frames with Marshall fabric. .

Daddy Dee
beautiful work on your CW upgrades. Have you got a Marshall fabric yet? Tony Reed just covered some LaScala top grills with an oem Marshall cane fabric and the results are stunning. Agree that it would be hard to improve on the B2 crossover. could you say more about Jupiter caps? What mid horn are you using?
muel
I was looking at changing the caps on stock B2s with Jupiters but they don't make a 2uf or 4uf which is what is in there now. 1uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x .8 $65.00 1.5uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x .85 $69.00 2.2uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x .92 $75.00 3.3uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x 1.25 $94.00 4.7uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x 1.8 $105.00 5.0uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x $108.00 6.8uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x 2.33 $126.00 8.0uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x 2.55 $135.00 10uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x 3.05 $155.00 12uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x 3.67 $169.00 15uf 100VDC 1.86 x 1.86 x 4.55 $199.00 They have a 1, 1.5, 2.2, 3.3, 4.7 and bigger. These are WAY too expensive to combine to get the value you want. I heard these used on some JBLs and knew that I wanted to try them in the Cornwalls. How else are you modifying the B2s? djk
I sent Jupiter an e-mail about custom values for the Klipsch speakers. 2, 4, and 13µF.
lucky5115
The Jupiters should arrive tomorrow and I'll blind test them against the Sonic's and post the results. My mid are K-51's with new diag's from Bob. For the B2 network it came with 2 and 3uf caps. I bought the 2.2 and 3.3's. I'm no expert at all, but it's my understanding that the frequency cut normally for the B2 is 600 and 6000. Due to higher value caps, the roll off should now be around 575 and 5925 or so. From what I've read, the cornscala's still sound primo at 500 and 5800. I plan to keep the original T2A's and inductors as I don't think they go bad. muel
I really look forward to hearing about your results! I don't know the math... What values would I need if I wanted xover at 500 and 5800? edit: whoops! my bad... i've got old B networks, not B2s.
lucky5115
Again, I'm no expert and would definitely leave that one for the gurus' By comparison B -vs- B2. The B and B2 are similar. Both B's have the same 2.5mh inductor for the woofer except for a 20uf low pass filter capacitor on the B2. Both B's use the same T2A autoformer and same tap locations. However, the midrange cap is 3uf on the B2 and 4 on the B. Both B's use 2uf caps on the high pass tweeter. Except the B2 has a 245uh inductor inline. Yes there are many variations and designs of xover networks available. I just happen to like the B2 as they sound good to my ears I've decided to tweak mine as I've added the tratrix horn. Anyhoo, I'd upgrade the old B net to say the least.
djk
djk: Can you short-wind for lower values? There would be a market for 2µF, 4µF, and 13µF values for Klipsch speakers. What kind of quantities would we be looking at to do this? From: "Christopher Young" <info@jupitercondenser.com> To: Hi Dennis,Sorry for the delay. I thought I had sent this.I can make these values for you. Do you think that these would be good values to add to the line-up? I can make whatever quantities you want. If one or two pieces, it could take longer.I have had inquiries for 13.5uf caps for Klipsch, and also heard that 3uf can be popular.Let me know what you are thinking.Best Regards,Chris YoungJupiter Condenser
