Continual problems with Sub 10 and Sub 12 powered subwoofers.

Had a Sub 10 that I had to unplug and re-plug in every time I had to use it. Would be receiving a signal according to the light, but no sound. Replaced it a year ago with a Sub 12 (it's still under mfg. warrantee...I'm just tired of dicking with it) and the same problem is now happening, except that when I unplug and replug in, it won't start working. The blue light is lit, but no sound. I have a Denon surround receiver and when I run the test signal, it's showing no subwoofer. All settings are correct...receiver is set for subwoofer:yes, crossover frequency is set at 80, i've got the gain about halfway up on the sub, the crossover frequency set at 80 (thought changing it doesn't effect the signal, I tried). I also checked the fuse. It's fine. I'm thinking that these are just dog subs. I'm all for getting it repaired/replaced under my 5 year mfg warrantee (2 year products with onboard amps), but I just don't know if I still want the crappy thing. Any thoughts? I considered that the monster cable or connectors might be bad, but with it on auto, when I turn on the stereo, the sub picks up the signal. Thanks.

wuzzer...thanks for the quick response. no, the blue light comes on when the receiver is turned on indicating that the sub is waking up and is receiving signal. it's just that there is nothing sound wise coming out...i've experimented with crossover/high gain and still nothing. and i am assuming the cable is ok...i've checked both ends of the connection (monster cable, monster splitter at the sub to the rca inputs) and it worked fine for months...simply stopped working. i would assume user error normally, but i've rechecked all connections and the light does cycle from red to blue when i turn on my reciever so i have to have it hooked up correctly.

if the fuse was blown, would it still show receiving a signal or would it not power up? the fuse doesn't look blown but it may be cooked underneath the caps where I can't see. just ordered some ceramic fuses which are supposed to be better anyway for high vibration applications...but I would think that if it was a fuse, the sub wouldn't even power up.

similar problem with my sub 10...talked with klipsch technical support and they said that the inboard amp might have a short in it. it would work if i would unplug and plug back in. with the sub 12, it doesn't even do that. it's just...dead. I have Klipsch fronts, a Klipsch center, Klipsch surrounds and Klipsch outdoor speakers. LOVE all of them. But I've had nothing but problems now with two powered subs.

thanks again.

hey wuzzer...one more thing...subsequent to your post i've found others with other people having the same problem with the sub 10 and sub 12 that have all been traced to manufacturing issues with the amplifiers which, from what i can tell from the forum posts, Klipsch is aware of but has not done anything about other than fix/replace the offending units.

I think most of the time I've heard others who have amp problems still have the light on the sub illuminated. Seems that I've heard more problems with the Sub-10 than with the Sub-12. I'd give Klipsch a call and see what they recommend.

i was told my another member on here the problem with light doesnt hurt or affect it, my light stays on with my sub-12 and within the last year it stopped shutting off im out of warranty, but hasnt affected the performance of my sub-12 at all going on 6 years strong thinking of adding second sub or going with rw-12d in my new house.

I just bought a new R-112SW and I get no sound from the unit. The wireless WA-2 kit shows as being paired, and the subwoofer shows as being powered, but no sound comes out. I can't believe that there seems to be this many problems reported on their reference units.

I'd get it replaced then sell it. Get you a bad boy sub like an Svs, hsu, rythmik, psa. Them guys all offer solid subs with great warranties.

Did you try different source? Like iPod to RCA cables to just play some music through sub?

Just bought a cinema 400 with wireless subwoofer. When plugging it in there is a fast blinking blue light which is not supposed to be that way. I run through all the procedures of pairing and the flashing light goes to solid blue like it has paired. But on the bar it is still flashing like it has not paired. I tried everything for hours. Been on hold with klipsch 3 different times to talk to support and nobody answered. I have multiple emails into support with zero responses yet. Can’t swap it out cause none of the stores have it in stock unless I want to wait another week for a new one then take this one back. What a hassle. Has anyone had this issue????

I bought a 400 a month ago for my garage and love it, so I bought one for my tv room. Unfortunately I have the fast blinking blue light and tried everything. So, now I have to call Klipsch to sort it out, or I have another week to return it.
