willland Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I have for sale my beloved OO Quartets that are in almost mint condition. I hate the term "mint" but these babies are about as close to "mint" as I have personally ever seen when it comes to this genre of speakers. Note the unique saw pattern on the grain. Local pickup price is $400.00 or the same for "reasonable" delivery. A few reasons for selling: --Too much gear, need to thin the herd. --Part of a 2-channel system that gets used seldom and sitting next to RF-63's in the same room. --RF-63's rule that room. --Recoupe some $$$ from previous purchase of Cambridge Audio 840C Azur CD player/DAC. ----SPECIAL DEAL---- Buy these Quartets and get the Luxman LV-117 integrated amp for $150.00. Excellent combination IMO. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/174544.aspx Thanks, Bill Quote

Woofers and Tweeters Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 That’s some great looking cabinets. I like naturalfinish on furniture. To have some that are not just oak, but figured oak - wow.The rays really show in your pictures of the top and left. My Fortes are perfectand are great looking cabinets, but, to me, those are (because of the figured oak) anotch above standard cabinets. [Y] GLWYS Quote
Sepen Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Seriously, the cabs are worth $400 alone. They are gorgeous. I am a huge Oak fan and those cabs kill my Fortes. Those have got to be hard to let go of. Quote

Those have got to be hard to let go of. You are probably right about the worth of the cabinets. And yes they are hard to part with. I kind of grow attached to all of my speakers and gear too sometimes. Bill Quote

Bill It’s a combination of phenomenon and the way it’s cut. The stripes show very prominently when the wood is quarter sawn or in the case of veneer, sliced. http://www.amishhandcraftedheirlooms.com/quarter-sawn-oak.htm The cathedral shape grain rarely has the rays with them. I have read very little about it, and your question has me googling for information. http://www.forestryforum.com/board/index.php?topic=10074.0 I’m not sure about it all, nor is anyone else. When I googled “Birdseye Maple” I read that no one knows why it happens. https://www.google.com/search?q=birdseye+maple&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=QsG9Ue2uN4zc8wScy4G4Cw&sqi=2&ved=0CFYQsAQ&biw=1680&bih=914#facrc=_&imgrc=DKZOPe1ZG1y1nM%3A%3BjK2mj1vuGvtqNM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252F1.bp.blogspot.com%252F_xWjoeLNcmQo%252FSQNuQqLNZNI%252FAAAAAAAACG8%252Fuvqm7_Z3UXM%252Fs400%252Fbirdseye_maple_strat_neck.JPG%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.stratoblogster.com%252F2008%252F10%252Fbirdseye-maple-strat-neck-yumminess.html%3B400%3B300 http://www.woodsongaudio.com/smoothgallery/gallery.html Quote

Mike Lindsey Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Bill, I would take these off your hands if I had the room for them and the money. I just bought a pair of KP-201's for the garage and I am tapped out at the moment. I hope you sell them soon! Mike Quote
