K85Horn
I recently bought some 1985 Klipschorns locally and if these 1972 were available, I would have bought them instead; http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649066321-klispch_horns_date_circa_1972_sequential_set/ I keep going back and looking at the ad wishing I had a bigger house so that I could buy the 1972's and sell my 1985's! garymd
FYI - Those are raw birch "C" style '78s, not '72s as advertised. I happen to have C style '76s and would prefer the B style if I had a choice. Hey, nothing against any style, or any year mint Khorns......

Budman
as Gary said these are from ( S ) 1978 http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649066321-klispch_horns_date_circa_1972_sequential_set/
ricktate
You can convert Cs to Bs pretty easy. I did that to mine when I redid them. Rick
Islander
Don't all Khorn pairs have sequential serial numbers? There may be a few exceptions, but I thought it was standard policy that they were sold like that.
K85Horn
My 1985 K-horns only had serial numbers on the low frequency bins and they were 2 numbers apart. I could not find any serial numbers on the top sections. The low frequency bins and top sections seem to all match up otherwise. From what I read on the Klipsch forums, K-horns made in the mid 1970's are desirable.
Islander
Whether the serial numbers are consecutive or not seems to get more attention than it deserves. You'd think it would only be dedicated collectors who would give it more than a second thought, but it seems to matter quite a bit to some. As for 1970s Khorns being better, are you referring to the aluminum K400 horns, as opposed to the later resin K401 horns? Some people see the 401 horns as an improvement and replace the old metal horns with the new 401 type. They have no resonance issues and the castings are smoother. There's some debate about earlier round Alnico magnets versus later square "mud" magnets on tweeters and squawkers, but all those things are exchangeable, as well as the crossovers. With Khorns, the condition of the cabinets could be a big deciding factor. If the cabinets are like new, that trumps scruffy cabinets, no matter what components are inside. In my opinion, anyway. K85Horn
I am surprised these have not sold for his asking price of $2000 CAD and the new ad is listed on October 15, 2013; http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649066321-klispch_horns_date_circa_1972_sequential_set/
