Wanted: K-51-V driver

Looking to replace one of the drivers that came with a recently acquired pair of Corwall I's. As you can see in the photo, the material surrounding the rear portion is cracked in a couple of places, although it still measures good on the multimeter. Bob Crites has suggested to me that the material "might" not have any functional value, and may be just for decorative or protective purpose. However, I'm not comfortable with the integrity of the driver, so I'm looking to replace it. The one that is cracked seems to have a slightly different material on it, and is smooth, rather than a "pebbly" surface.... I realize that they are few and far between, but if anyone knows a source, please let me know. Thanks very much. Jim

Those are dual phase plug ceramic magnet midrange drivers to replace them with the push terminal K-55V's would be a downgrade. The K-55M is a tad hotter than the K-55V by approximately 1 - 1.5db. If anything you want the K-55V with dual phase plugs and solder terminals, but the K-51V's are rare if they are fully functional despite the cracked plastic cover it will be a lateral move at best. I would keep them simply for their rarity. Be sure to replace the rubber gaskets that sit inside the threaded portion of the horn throat.

Interesting post from my perspective as a new owner of a pair of Cornwall 1's. Please see attached photo. These sound great and have been upgraded to B-2 crossovers, but the driver cover's seem to have become kind of oxidized or something. The inside of the cabinets were spotless. I haven't touched these coverings, but it appears they might have been black underneath originally. Good luck with your search.
