tempestious1
Thinking on a cerwin vega cv-1800 anyone have anything good to say or bad about their amplifiers they just seem to be a bit low priced or do you get what you pay for with them i have a couple of RF 7 II's
The History Kid
I was never personally a fan of what they had to offer, but I haven't kept up with them since '03. Is this to replace your RX-A2030?
derrickdj1
The amp is most likely OK. This is pro gear but, it can be used for the home. Pro gear has higher fan noise also wihich some fine objectionable. An I Nuke DSP amp for the same or less would be a better choice. You could also put the money toward a good avr with the extra bells and whistles. HDMI is also on the avr and room correction software. tempestious1
i would be connecting it to my yamaha rx a2030 till i can get something better maybe a NAD why would pro equipment cost less than home equipment is there that much difference between them seems like a pretty powerful amp to me
derrickdj1
Has you can see I have the RF 7's and use an Acurus amp 200 watts. My Pioneer Elite is rated 140 watts and to be honest, it can drive the RF 7's without a hiccup just like the power amp. I have said before that I most likely could get by without a power amp but, I like them. For 2 ch. listening you may not need an amp because the 7's will not need all that power to get to ear bleeding levels. The thing with using pro gear is voltage mismatch with some avr. Do you use a sub? Edited October 1, 2014 by derrickdj1
Boxx
Cerwin Vega used to make some excellent speakers for "Radio Shack." (Southland Corp.)

JiminSTL
"Tempestious1" (sic), would it be too "snarky" to ask for a period--just once in a while to help the comprehension . . . .? Don't mean to offend, but it may keep a reader from having to reread your comments to make sure he is understanding your question/comment. Thanks. tempestious1
i do use a Klipsch sw-115 the thing shakes the house. the amp is $400 they make a home stereo amp i just found for around $900. I've been looking at purchasing another set of 7's or trying CV's high end speakers to go with my existing ones. I'm not the best on punctuation or capitalization.
russ69
I try to keep it simple. Pro amps are for pro usages. Home audio is a different application.

Just snarky enough :-)) If grammar, syntax and spelling rules were enforced, we would lose a lot of valuable contributions; it would become a desolate place. russ69
Cerwin Vega used to make some excellent speakers for "Radio Shack." (Southland Corp.) They also made the sub for the Infinity Servo Static IIA system, a very fine system.
tigerwoodKhorns
This just popped up in the garage sale section if you do not think you can swap out a fan in a QSC: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/152912-crown-k2-amplifier-55000/ Looks like the K2 takes 1.4v for max output. Take this (or the QSCs) in a heartbeat over the Cerwin Vega amp.
Boxx
They also made the sub for the Infinity Servo Static IIA system, a very fine system. I do recall that system, however I didn't know that Radio Shack was involved....
