wvu80
So, what's the difference between the EV DH1A and the mighty Klipsch K-63-KN? About 21 pounds.
absolve2525
Hmmm...that big hunk might need some support if you're trying to fit it in a CF4! Wow
NBPK402
Hmmm...that big hunk might need some support if you're trying to fit it in a CF4! Wow I believe that is why my horns have a massive support brace where the driver connects.
whatever55
The 1.5 mil version is designed to be used above 1Khz (in PA), the 2mil version, 500hz. The 1.5mil version sounds fine at 750hz on the HR90/24dB, I have not tried it on a larger horn (crossed lower). Anyway to tell what might be in a driver without taking them apart ? djk
If it says DH1 it's 2 mil, if it has a replacement diaphragm with the PN 84234XX Factory replacement diaphragm (8-Ohm) or 84233XX Factory replacement diaphragm (16-Ohm) then it's 1.5mil.
absolve2525
Hmmm, from photos on Ebay OEM replacements, it looks like it's actually written on the diaphragm. I'm not sure if that's always the case, however. Edited December 11, 2014 by absolve2525
djk
"it looks like it's actually written on the driver" On the diaphragm, not the driver.
absolve2525
Whoops, I meant diaphragm! I'm curious, does the thicker phragm extend lower into the midrange? Does it have advantages, like better durability? Or is the 1.5 better for higher resolution? Edited December 11, 2014 by absolve2525
djk
"does the thicker phragm extend lower into the midrange?" No, the horn determines how low it will go. " Does it have advantages, like better durability?" Yes. " Or is the 1.5 better for higher resolution?" Yes.
absolve2525
Thanks for the answers. Your comment, "The 1.5 mil version is designed to be used above 1Khz (in PA), the 2mil version, 500hz" gave me the impression that the thicker phragm extended lower. I suppose I was mistakenly thinking like it was a woofer, where more mass means lower extension. Cheers!
