Amp switchers

Hi folks.  Happy Friday.  I have a set-up that I really like with a Mac MC 2105 amp (Outlaw Audio 975 preamp for the modern digital hookups) and Cornwall II fronts, Heresy rears and a heresy center.  I love the sound of this setup; run it in "enhanced stereo" for my music (and with a Klipsch subwoofer for HT.  Anyway, I also have a very cool Jolida 10W tube amp and I would like to be able to easily switch to that for stereo music listening when the mood hits me.  So, I want to grab a simple amp switcher to do that (i.e., just hook speaker cables to switcher and use the switch to select which amp drives the speakers.

What is your experience with these?  Recommendations?  Cautions?

Thanks!

Tim

I use a Niles SPK-1 (wired in reverse) and a remote controlled 12 vdc source to control the switch. This is used to switch my Belles between the 5 channel HT amp and my VRD mono amps used in two channel. It has been a solid solution. Caution? When using a Niles IPC-6 with this I programmed in more than enough delay to make darn sure the two amps didn't "see" each other.

I have used a Niles DPS-1 and it worked well. I used it to switch between tubes a SS and it didn't seem to have any negative affects with the sound.

I think I still have it on shelf somewhere and would give you a good deal on it if interested. PM me if you want it.

Not to step on anyone's toes, but if he's not interested I would be.

I use the Niles SPK-1 with 2 amplifiers and 1 set of speakers.   It requires the 12 volt signal to make it switch to the 2nd amplifier so I connected a wall wart with the proper voltage I had lying around to the SPK-1.  I put the wall wart and the 2nd amp together on a power strip.  This way the 2nd amp can not be turned on without speakers attached.

Caution! Some amps need a speaker load when they are turned on.  I would be sure that any tube amp is ONLY on when there are speakers connected.

This is the one I used.  Got brand new for $39.  I see they are much higher than two years ago.  I would check Ebay for a used one since there are no electronic parts in the device.
