ryanm84
The consensus seems to be Episode IV first. For a kid, it is magical. The newer ones would spoil that. There is something about that opening sequence when the ship goes by and then the Imperial ship just keeps expanding from overhead - it's a great hook! Also of trivial note is it's one of (if not the) first movies to break with the actors union and not run credits at the beginning which immerses you immediately into the story! PS - Han shot first! Make sure the replay shows this version and not the re-imagined one.
oldtimer
So nice to be anti-union. Not that I care about actors, but still...
garyrc
Also of trivial note is it's one of (if not the) first movies to break with the actors union and not run credits at the beginning which immerses you immediately into the story! Many movies from before that did not run actors credits at the beginninng! Here are just two: Around the World in 80 Days (1956 Todd-AO version). It had lengthy credits at the end, set to Victor Young's bouncy epilog. These ending credits included the names of all 54 stars (50 cameos and 4 leads). At the beginning of 2001: a Space Odyssey (1968), there was an abstract picture of the MGM lion, then, Metro Goldwyn Mayer presents, then, A Stanly Kubrick Production, then, 2001: A Space Odyssey, all set gloriously to Thus Spake Zarathustra. The credits for actors, special effects, music and all other credits were at the end. A numinous beginning, if there ever was one. tigerwoodKhorns
4 is absolute crap, just skip it entirely. Lucas pandering to his kids. Yuck. 1, 2, 3. If they don't like it, ground them. Later, if they do soemthing bad, make them watch 4 using the eye opening contraptions in A Clockwork Orange.
BigStewMan
i say show them in an order that will totally confuse them…then you can explain everything and you will appear smart and then you’re the hero.
Cantilope
My 8 year old son loved the last 3 but didn't care to see the Jedi children killed by Vader. He says for younger kids, skip 1-3, nothing to see here move along.
