MWS
Ordered Crites A/4500 crossovers and CT-125 tweeters for my '83 La Scalas. It was a difficult decision, but these seem to be a popular option with these speakers. Not really sure why I am looking for more since I am already extremely satisfied. I guess I just can't resist the possibility of improvement. More to follow.
mustang guy
Awesome. Have you ever had the woofer out? While you are waiting for the new stuff to come int, you can flip those over and remove the trap door and the woofers. Clean everything out, spin the woofer 90 degrees if you have the speaker wire length, put a new seal on the trap door, replace old screws if the heads are messed up, and tighten the woofer terminal from inside the doghouse. Oh and one more thing. If there is any leak in the pointy part of the doghouse, you can fill it with wood glue. Just lay the speaker on it's face, squirt some glue and let it level and dry.
minermark
Good call on the Crites upgrade, you will be pleased. Mustang called it right, do a little Maint now, because once those Crites are in you will not be touching them for a long time.
Full Range
Go all the way and update all that your budget will allow And I would also recommend that you do some basic maintenance now

ricktate
I think you will likey it a lot. I did it to my Ks I just bought the component's I needed also got the cast frame woofy also. I also sanded the inside of the mid horn cleaned the seams up and painted them with that rustoleum black enamel . On my Scalas I just rebuilt the crossover with new parts except for the tranny did not have the money to do the 4500 thing on them. Do not forget to check the seal on the mid horn I found an O-ring that fits perfect but you have to put a bit of Vaseline on it to make it tighten smoothly. But you can get new stock rubber washers from Crites if you want those I find that they block part of the horn throat though. Rick
MookieStl
You will like the combination with the xover and the new tweeter. I switched my Belles to this configuration also. I can only compare it to what it sounded before and after (27 year old AB crossover) and it was amazing. Do what you can as others have mentioned but sit back and enjoy when done. There will always be theories as to better configurations etc. but the key is they will sound wonderful the way you have them. It's about the music and your listening enjoyment.
Daddy Dee
I've been very pleased with that combination of xover and tweeter in my LaScalas and Khorns.
MWS
Never even thought of messing with the woofers. I might have to look into that. The Crites components should be at my place on Tuesday, I am looking forward to it.

mustang guy
What's the best material for resealing the woofer door on the La Scala? I use PVC weatherstripping. It's tan colored, and one side is adhesive. Edited May 8, 2015 by mustang guy

MWS
Put in the new crossovers and tweeters last night. I would say there is a noticeable improvement after a brief listening session. Looking forward to hearing more tonight.
middlecreekguy
Looking forward to your impressions on the crossovers and tweeters. What do you hear now? Where is the improvement most noticeable? I may do this to mine in the near future.
