Paducah Home Theater
Have you guys ever seen a firmware update make a receiver quieter? I downloaded it the night before last and instantly everything I play seems quieter. Even watched American Sniper at -5 and it seemed somewhat normal and bass wasn't very strong, which makes absolutely no sense. Kids movies that I listened to at -25 or -20 are now -15 minimum. Very strange. Both before and after it was just set to direct since I'm having trouble with Audessey.
ricktate
Do you mean less loud or better quality ? Not sure what you mean I have old stuff so -5 does not mean much to me. lol Rick
gadgtfreek
I never have had that with a D&M product.

willland
Is it possible that the firmware update caused your Marantz to default back to the factory settings therefore disengaging Audyssey? Just a thought. Bill

Just a thought. Bill Considering I've lost my settings twice due to a power outage and simply unplugging it during a lightning storm, nothing would surprise me, guess I need to dig in the settings to see if it changed anything.
gadgtfreek
Id say it lost its settings. That should not happen. Id do 2 or 3 microprocessor resets and set it up again.
Scrappydue
I could be wrong but if it defaulted back to factory it should Be twice as loud as all levels would go to 0.
gadgtfreek
That should be correct, assuming he had speakers trimmed and not boosted in the level settings.
Scrappydue
I don't know a single person that has Klipsch boosted. At least with rf-7ii in a moderate sized room. Which I have been in his theater so I know it's size. Wonder if maybe Williand boosts his 63's in his large room?
Paducah Home Theater
No Audessey usually kills output by 12 db on the RF-7ii's. I don't know what it did but it probably didn't boost it by 12 db just for me to think it is quieter.
