wvu80
Mahler's Resurrection Symphony excerpt, played by the 80 horns of the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. The Cadets probably have the best hornline in Drum Corps International (DCI) competition this year. Play it LOUD, Klipsch speakers are made for drum corps. The sound will melt your face with the sound of pure, luscious, brass playing. There will be a 50 second warmup, then Mahler! +++ If you're interested, tune in about 1:27:30 to the end, to see how Leonard Bernstein and the London Symphony Orchestra treats this section. garyrc
Thanks! ... one of my favorite pieces of music. I love Mahler. I love watching Bernstein's face! "Music is a higher revelation than philosophy" -- Beethoven
wvu80
I just watched the live feed for Drum Corps International for DCI Central Missouri in Warrensburg. All the top guns were there, and the Cadets featured in this post won the show, which has a strong piece with the 10th Symphony by Shostokovich. That is a hard symphonic piece to play sitting down, much less while marching forwards, backwards and sideways! If a DCI show comes to your town, go! You won't be disappointed. I think they are headed to Texas next, to the Alamo Dome. It's America's best kept secret and an unbelievable musical treasure.
