fuzzydog Posted June 13, 2017 Share Posted June 13, 2017 Turns out that my cheap Sony bluray player will not support bitstream output which means that I cant pass the Dolby Atmos soundtrack to my receiver. Does anyone know of current bluray players which can output bitstream? I'm hoping that i dont need to spring for an OPPO since i'm just using an HDMI connection and am not convinced that there is any difference in signal quality from one player to another (let me know if i'm wrong on this). So, when you watch a BD and choose DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD in the movie's audio setup, do you see on your AVR's screen what it is decoding? If you do, then your player is sending a bitstream. Bill Except when they want to cripple models using bits and pieces that seem unimportant to the general public but are exceptionally important to the niche buyers.. this forces you to buy into the higher tiered offerings. Boilermaker86 Posted June 13, 2017 Share Posted June 13, 2017 I'm in the same boat because my current blu-ray player is old and making noise now. I've been looking at the UBD-K8500.
