robert_kc
There are a non-trivial number of modern classical recordings available in surround-sound (SACD or Blu-ray). And there's not much content in the rear channels. If your main speakers must be far apart due to room layout, 3.0 or 3.1 can make sense. Jeff's Eight
Personally It seems to me you may have one speaker too many. I listen to TV thru my two Chorus speakers and find it decent enough. Perhaps you can still return it and pocket the $2k? Also Since you have another media room, I suggest you forget the A/V receiver and use that $2k from the Forte on a small integrated tube amp. Finally, I think you may find it helpful to find the youtube hour and one half video on how to improve a music room for $150. You should have many great listening years ahead!! Enjoy. jjptkd
Yes, I ran 3 channels for a long time strictly for TV and really liked it but have switched over to 2-channel for simplicity and haven't really missed the 3rd channel. If you're sitting in or near the sweet spot the stereo imaging sounds like its coming from the TV, if you're too far to one side one speaker will stand out more than the other which isn't an issue with a dedicated center speaker. If you have the space I say the more speakers the better, it would be nice to have 7 forte III's and 4 Ultra 2 subs, some day maybe..
