avguytx
I'm wondering what those 4 black rubber pieces look like up close on the La Scala II's if anyone possibly has a pic of that. I'm wanting to do something similar on my Belle clone build where they have that look of the LS II versus the wood trim that separates the tops and bottoms. Do the tops screw to the bottoms on the LS II's or are they just sitting on top of them? I'm wanting to do this in case I decide to do something different on the top section so the bottoms aren't marred on the tops of them. I suppose I could use about anything as far as 4 round black rubber pieces....even hockey pucks or similar. ha Does anyone have that info per chance? Thanks in advance! wstrickland1
No pic, they're just too damn heavy But they just sit on top. The feet are basically rubber knobs and the top of the bass bin has "routed out" areas that match the pattern. Not screwed in but trust me they're not going anywhere..... wstrickland1
I found a pic on my phone and I was wrong. The rubber "knobs" are on the bass bin and the indentations are on the tophat. Either way they are not screwed down and are very secure.
avguytx
Awesome. Thanks for that info and picture, ws. I'm seriously considering 4 soft rubber hockey pucks per side as these won't be in an area where they are going to be bumped. I'm pretty sure the weight will keep them in place. Zooming in on those "knobs" it sure looks like there is a screw in the middle of them. PE has a couple cabinet "feet" that look very similar. I have used the Peavey ones several times and like them (see photo) they are about $6 for a set of 4, 1.5" diameter. There are some from Penn Elcon that appear similar too. You don't have to use the screws if you prefer not to, but they will definitely do the trick. Good luck, you cabinets are looking great.
wstrickland1
Yes the knobs themselves are screwed down but the tophat just sits on top of them. The 2 pieces aren't screwed together.

avguytx
Thanks for the info and the compliment, mookie. I may look into those Peavey feet. They appear to be a good diamet and height. How tall do you think they are?
avguytx
Found it. 3/4" tall. Perfect height. Thanks!
avguytx
And then I found these on Amazon.
wstrickland1
Those look almost identical. Any good way of creating a bit of a divot on the other piece to help "lock them in"?
avguytx
I don't want to put any marks on either cabinet if I can keep from it. I figure gravity will keep the tops in place. Hopefully. But, I'll most likely mount them to the top cabinet so they are evenly mounted and in place. I want to keep the bass bins hole free on top in case I ever do something different on the highs. Schu
I think the klipsch pieces look better. A softer durometer for better absorption and they act as a centering/registration mechanism to ensure the tops are aligned with the LF section. avguytx
There's not really much to see in 3/4" tall rubber pieces sunk back in a couple inches. Not sure I'd ever hear a difference in various softnesses of rubber either. I can square them up fairly easy, too.
